Help! About to buy Used 2009 Nismo.

Hey guys, new to the forum.

I have been doing everything I can to get into a 370z Nismo. I finaly found a (local) White 2009 370z Nismo w/ only 5k for mileage :happydance:. The dealer is asking 34,800.00. I am trying to get them down - there is "road rash" on the front right tire (I noticed it after I took the video), and a small scratch on the hood - even with those things noted they're not moving :ughdance:.

My concern is that it is a 2009 and I am paying 35K for 3 year old (about to be 4) car...

I honestly feel I should be paying about 2,000.00 less. Am I crazy?

What are your thoughts?

Thanks, in advanced, for all the help. Hopefully I can get into a Nismo and become a much more active member here.

They were selling for 35K back in 2010..... Just buy a new one if you are going to spend that much.

It's just that extra 8 grand or so is pushing it aliitle to far for me.

8K? You should be able to get one for invoice + 0%

Gawl128 07-20-2012 08:46 PM

Maybe I should just keep shopping. I've just had such a hard time getting one....... and I am really tired of dealer runaround. Have one in front of me for once is nice.

go to Hassle-Free Car Buying Experience from Local Dealers - TrueCar, get a bottom line price

Are they still giving 0% on 2012 models??

dmhenderson 07-20-2012 10:21 PM

It's because you're insisting on a specific model and color. The dealership knows they have you over a barrel.

LakeShow 07-20-2012 10:32 PM

That's pretty low miles for 09.

As far as I know yes. Even if they don't, it is probably 1.9% at the most

TreeSemdyZee 07-21-2012 09:31 AM

Wait, isn't the Nismo you are interested in being sold from a Carmax dealership? If so the price is non negotiable. Thats one thing I really dislike about their company, however their prices are pretty competitive and the hassle free negotiating can be nice if the price is decent. I bought my Nismo from a Carmax last year. An 09 with 9k miles on it for 32k. My sister works for the company so I was also able to get a discount on top of that.

Yea it is being sold from Carmax - and trust me, the non negotiable price is some I dislike as well.
If they were asking closer to 33k, I would take it.
I'm just really worried on taking a bath with this thing if I need to sell it in a year or two - of course I don't think I will need to but just want to be safe.

Gawl128 07-22-2012 09:13 PM

The car sold..... These cars move so fast. Maybe I should have moved on it .......
Hopefully it's for the best and I find the Nismo of my dreams.....

Update on this car - it was returned but the person who bought it (it was bought soon after I passed on the car).

The guy who bought it and then returned it (Car Max has a 5 day return policy) said the car's transmission was damaged....

I may go look at it again - there was nothing wrong with the trans - maybe he couldn't handle the high catch point of the clutch?

Gawl128 07-26-2012 10:39 AM

Back in the dealer - I think I may pull the trigger ... its a brand new 2009...... No one has had any problem with this year outside of the oil cooler right?
