My 370Z buying experience

370Z, 6spd MT, Sport pkg, Brilliant Silver

I wanted to post my purchasing experience to hopefully help someone here. Although I've purchased a number of vehicles, this forum was truly informative during my purchase.

The first thing I did was extensive research on pricing and purchasing negotiations. Once I had a $ figure that I felt was fair and was ready to purchase I sent out quote requests.

Surprisingly, a salesman whom I had met while getting my 350Z serviced contacted me. I told him I was serious about purchasing a vehicle and would come out to see him. Met with him yesterday, told him the price I was willing to pay, $35500 otd. He and his manager didn't seem to think they could do this because it put them under invoice on the 370Z, 6spd, sport pkg. I asked if I could log on to the internet in his office and went to USAA's web site, to which I'm a member, and went to their car buying service. Pulled up the car with the specs and showed him the price they've negotiated with dealers for their members. They said they know I'm serious about purchasing a car and couldn't let me leave. He and the manager came back with a number less than USAA, at $35,800 otd.

This took less than an hour to complete and I entered the dealership without any research paperwork. My salesman was great and we both were serious and respected each others time. My wife and I completed the deal last night. Will post pics when I can.

awesome, informative customers are the best because the dealerships know they cant BS and yank them around a person whom has done their homework. its the less educated that they like to yank around.

Just switched to USAA I will keep this in mind

I have USAA as well and did the same thing as the OP. I think USAA uses something if not identical to the truvalue report. It helped me a little bit when I went to purchase mine but I still got it about a grand less than the report generated by USAA.

Thanks, Fagan, for that story. It illustrates a number of points....
1. Know the facts before you go to a dealer
2. Have a good idea of what you want
3. Treat people with respect
4. Show a little flexibility.
