Default Placing new order for build

Hello, I have been a member since 2 years ago, and still waiting until early next year to pull the trigger on a 370Z.

In my understanding, Price of the vehicle you want to purchase can only be negotiated if the vehicle is at the dealer's inventory.(physically at the location)

So, if it is impossible to locate your exact model and have to place a new, customized order, do you have to pay the full MSRP as stated on Nissanusa.com?

No, you can negotiate a custom order as well. The dealers may try to push what they have on their lot, but they can order one for you on base on an agreed price. Just make sure you have good paperwork of the order with the price on it.

If you can't find what you want, find a dealer with no Z's in stock. That way they will deal on an order because why do they care, you're not passing over a car on the lot they want to unload. Just my logic, YMMV.

I deal with the general manager when buying a car. I consider salesman and sales manager's nothing but order takers who have to get the ok from their boss to finalize the sale. A real pain to fool with these people. So, I start at the top.

I have ordered a 2013 Z which will arrive in October. The dealer has an allocation of so many new cars. The GM has sent his build allocation in for a touring model with the new navy blue color. He will sell it to me at his cost and will keep the 3% holdback as his profit. I did not have to put down a deposit and if I do not like the color I am under no obligation to buy it. I am a repeat customer so I do not know if anyone else could get this kind of deal.

I am so excited about getting back into a Z after owning 2 of them. Driving an Infiniti now, and October will not come soon enough.

street2soul, as others have stated, you can negotiate at time of ordering the car. Why some sales people will not do this is for 2 reasons.

1) They go through the whole negotiating process with you and in the 3 month wait for your car, you back out of the deal. And yes, unless you signed an exclusive forfeit your deposit contract, you can get your deposit back. 2) When the car is on the lot and you see it in person, they know they can get a higher price out of you.

And no, you do not have to buy it at MSRP. Good Luck and hope to see you in a Z soon!!!

Thank you everyone for clear advise, I've always been told to pay the full price for anything custom order, but i guess that's not true at all.

You should never pay MSRP in any situation.

Take it from an old fart like me, you can negotiate the price of anything from a car to a washing machine. Next time you go in a store spending a couple hundred dollars, try it. You just might save yourself some dough.
