Please Post Here When You Get Your 2012
I'm just trying to see when others start getting their 2012 Z's. Mine is scheduled to arrive November 18, and is about the 500th car built so far.
Please post your car's build date, delivery date, and your aprox VIN# so we can figure out how fast they are building them, and how long it's taking to get them delivered. Thanks ---- Bonzo Here's my story today from other threads...... Quote:

I know they build other models besides 370Z in the assembly plant, so the 370Z build rate may be different now, but it gives a rough idea. It would be interesting to know how fast they are building them now. |

What I've learned in the last 6 months is that in terms of mass production comparisons, this is a very low volume car. 370's have sold WAY less than 350's within the same 2-1/2 - 3 year first release time period. I'm chalking that up to the economy and the Camaro being back, but I'm just guessing. But even if you use 2009's sale of 13117 cars, and divide it by say 48 weeks, that's only about 275 cars a week. Use 2010's numbers and that drops all the way to about 210 cars a week. 2011 is even slower. Yeah, hopefully I'll be able to figure it out soon and report back. |

Per this thread http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...uction+numbers August was about 130 cars a week. Although since allocations and orders weren't happening as usual, one has to wonder how many of these cars were older orders or "remakes" due to the tsunami.
370 Z Month 2009 2010 2011 January 1280 673 567 February 1452 699 571 March 1632 1095 974 April 1561 952 942 May 1278 1217 847 June 924 892 644 July 890 976 550 August 837 823 517 September 802 787 October 824 745 November 713 630 December 924 726 Total 13117 10215 5612 Grand Total 28944 |
If you use the 130 per week figure, with my car built on 8/25 and a VIN# around 500, that would mean 2012 production started at the begining of September (or even late August). Hard to know for sure until we get exact build dates and aprox VIN#'s.

is Nissan back to full swing? if not you have to consider that they are running rotation with other car manufacturers due to limited supply of materials and electricity. you cant just go by the standard R@R.
|
I got one!!
Wait... no.... you meant a car? |

Built 8/11???? You sure you don't mean 9/11? Not to give a bad 9/11 vibe here, but if your car was built 8/11, and mine around number 500 was built on 9/25, then certainly they had a shut down of sorts? I mean, it would seem like either your build date is wrong, or you don't have a 2012. But your 56 VIN# says 2012. Has to be wrong build date or a shut down. Or did you simply typo? Can you give us better feel for your VIN#? Like 1-50, 51-100 etc? If you're not comfortable with that it's cool, I understand. I'm just looking for basics. Mine is 500-550. By the way, I LOVE the Black Cherry. I'm just too much of a lazy frack to keep it clean. I had a 1997 Tahoe that was Dark Cherry Metallic and thought it was beautiful, just a bitch to keep clean. More pics of you car would be great!!! |

If you need help tracking your car just pm me your order Id number and the dealership you ordered from and I can look it up in the system.

What a guy fusz is. Too bad most dealerships could care less about the customer.
And bonzo coming from me with a white car it is also a huge pita to keep looking clean!! Looks amazing tho |
Picking my 2012 black/black base + sport 6 speed, I assume the last 4 of the vin represents the # built, mine is 0451. Should be picking it up Monday/Tuesday of next week.

I'm in the early 500's, so hopefully I'm right behind you. Although Florida is a ways off from Ohio. :icon17: Can you see if there are any things under the car or in the wheel wells that look like brake cooling vents? Several people are wondering if the rumor about 2012's is true or not. Thanks, and enjoy your car!!!! Cheers ---- Bonzo  |
Bonzo,
Will do, I am curious myself about the brake ducts. The 2012 literature does state they there are brake ducts, so hopefully we aren't getting screwed. |
Damn Bonzo, you may be the most excited soon to be Z owner ever!!! Sh1t if I drove a Pontiac Id be pretty excited too:roflpuke2:

Actually, my daily driver is a 2004 Murano. My wife's DD is a 2010 Kia Soul, and her sports car is the 2006 Pontiac Solstice (one of the first in Ohio). I just listed it when I signed on this forum so I looked cooler than a Murano boy. ;) The Solstice may not be the best car in the world (aka not that great), or the fastest, but it will out handle everything but sports cars, it's a blast with the top down, and it's still one of the best looking cars out there. Any car that can hold it's own sitting next to a Lamborghini is a great looking car, and the Solstice can do that. For what ever reason my life has never allowed me to be unpractical, and I've never had the opportunity to do anything other than the long term ownership SUV. Most guys get their sports car in their 20's or even early 30's. Not me. Suburban, S-10 Blazer, Tahoe Z-71, & Murano. Just the way it is, and I'm good with that. So life finally presented itself with the chance right now, and it came down to a sports car for me or a new kitchen for the house. I was leaning towards the kitchen (my wife is a GREAT cook), but my wife slowly understood the part about not wanting to be 60 before owning a fast car. Her having her own toy car helped, and the rest is history. So now hopefully it will arrive in perfect condition and all will be well with the world. Cheers ---- Bonzo  |

never heard of that place, is it any good?
Got a call today, they said that the vehicles are having issues with the power steering switch, no eta. My car is at the port, 2 hrs away from me, effed. |
Finally got my VIN today. Car was built on October 21. ETA is week of 12/9. I'm not 100% sure if I'm reading it correctly, but my car is #761

So martin, yours arrived on October 26th, and has a VIN# of 0001, which appears to be the VERY first 2012 built by the way. But, can you ask yoru dealer if they can look up the build date? Thanks! |

Mine was built on 9/25, with a VIN# in the low 500's. Yours was built 26 days later with VIN# in the mid 700's. So in 26 days they built roughly 250ish cars. So on average, that's about 10 cars a day, or 70 a week, or 280 a month. So wow, that's slower than I expected. Perhaps there was a Japanese holiday in there or something? Or a shut down? I mean at that rate, they will only be building about 3500 cars all year. We are getting down close to Porsche & Ferrari sort of numbers. Hmmmmmmm? |

Is it just me or would anyone else not want the first 2012 off the line? No telling if any undetected problems might exist or not. I'd prefer a mid year model any day!
