So japan had a natural diaster. And oh everyone wants to help. I can care less about japans needs and asking for help. Where were the donations for the Katrina victims here in new Orleans. Oh wait there was none! I lost everything to Katrina. House, boat, car, truck, all personal belongings and relative family members. Where was our help. All we were given was a bus ticket to go sleep in a stadium in another state. 3 waters and 3 mre were distributed to mywife, kid and I. When disaster happens to us Americans it's always poor thing them. I hope they all are ok. But when disaster happens to another country let's spend millions on them to help them out. What about using American tax money on Americans. Hell it's our money anyway shouldn't we use it to help ourselves out!

hope all will be ok in japan and the people..

on the other side of things....Nissan has told me there will be delays! min of 8-12 weeks for delivery and they will not break the purchase agreement until it runs out.

Curious Question ??

I hope the best for the Japanese people.

My curious question is "about the radiation".

Are any of the Nissan manufacturing plants
near any of these defected nuclear plants ?

Any concern about possible Nissan vehicles being contaminated ?

(or any other makes - toyota, honda) being contaminated ?

Like I said .... just curious ....

Thanks Tom Geer in Tennessee.

Depends on which way the wind is blowing. Nothing will be able to be exported with out being tested first!

Tochigi is above Tokyo by a bit, so probably looking at 10x normal radiation in that area. Still, not exactly the health hazard / crisis everybody is freaking out over yet.

Looks like the coolant system should be back in operation so hopefully only trace amounts of radiation from here on out...

I hope the best for the Japanese people and all non-Japanese there as well.

Probably not too many 2011s getting shipped anytime soon. Why worry about that? Then again, I already have my 370 Zed.

iceman21_23 03-17-2011 10:11 PM

even if they were to be shipped would any residual radiation residue be on them?

i have spoken with Nissan Canada about fallout and car being contaminated....and tryed to cancel my order...also found a new 370z roadster same as what i ordered at a different dealer and told my dealer i would take it...this is what they said!

Please be assured that Nissan and its dealerships strive to serve the needs of their customers by offering a superior level of customer service.

As we were not a part of the discussions/agreement that you have with the dealership, it is difficult for us to comment on the matter and we are not in a position to attempt to broker a resolution until such time as there appears to be an impasse. While we have documented the situation in our files, we would recommend that you contact the appropriate management personnel at the dealership, as they would be in the best position to address the situation and offer comment.

Sincerely yours,

Consumer Relations Representative

Nissan Canada Inc.

so no help at all from Nissan Canada...even when trying to buy a car that they can get for me....this is just pure greed from the dealer that sold me a car that they cant deliver!

Update

production at Togichi resumes March 24th on a "while supplies last basis"

370zproject 03-20-2011 02:00 PM

my friend is in nagoya how bad is the radiation there?

wilsonp 03-20-2011 03:25 PM

Nagoya is considerably south of Tokyo (my Mom's family is near there), and there doesn't seem to be any issues that far south.

Jeez -- I didn't even think of that. Yikes... good to know they are checking that before shipping.

Just don't pass judgement on someone else because you have a different opinion about whether they are concerned about the Japanese or the exact amount of hours/days/weeks you believe it is appropriate to wait before YOU believe it is okay to post a question.

If you are disappointed you can start a thread and title it, "I can't believe anyone is interested in their 370Z on a forum with the same name because they obviously don't care about the Japanese who are suffering".

That won't be necessary.

it wasnt a lack of people wanting to help that ruined relief efforts in Katrina, it was red tape and people in charge who had no plans, or organizational skills.

My fathers business was involved with the process of getting MRE's to Katrina victims in NO after the disaster, we only managed to get 2 trucks out before we werent allowed to send more due to excuses like Congestion and lack of organization/planning for where they were going to go.

My friend runs his own trucking company and he was trying to send trucks with donated items down but was not allowed due to similar reasons. It was a huge cluster F*(k and the people in charge couldnt get it organized for relief to get there.

but then also look on the flip side, (yourself excluded from this) but there are many a story of Katrina victims taking advantage of relief efforts / funding such as buying ridiculous items. They were spending there money on non essentials. Alot of people were faking being katrina victims to get in on the funds too.

So, sorry you went through that man, my neighbor fled from there as well and they lost everything including 2 kids. But just dont think that people didnt care or didnt try to help. There is a system in place and thats what failed. So dont let that stop you from trying to help others who could now use the help.

MC 03-21-2011 04:01 PM

every other thread on this subject has been sidetracked... lets keep this one open just for information relative to the delays and current status of production in Japan.. so everyone can be informed as possible.. with out having to start a new thread about where's my car that will eventually go to hell

with that said... as for the donations thing concerning Katrina and japan....

03.24.2011 , FRANKLIN, Tenn.
STATEMENT NO. 4 REGARDING STATUS OF JAPANESE EARTHQUAKE AND IMPACT ON NISSAN AMERICAS OPERATIONS

Nissan Americas continues to make progress in assessing the operational impact from the Japanese earthquake and is putting countermeasures in place to address business needs. The following statement will serve as an update that is current as of today’s date. As needed Nissan Americas will continue to provide routine updates.

Facilities/Production
Nissan Americas manufacturing operations intend to follow a normal production schedule through at least April 1. The supply chain is being continuously assessed and Nissan’s teams are working to limit any potential for component shortages. Another update will be provided next month.
We are currently studying the potential for our Decherd, TN engine plant to supply VQ V-6 engines to Japan to replace lost production from the Iwaki engine plant. No decisions have been made at this time.
Nissan LEAF vehicle and battery production resumed at the Oppama assembly and Zama battery plants on Thursday, March 24. The ability to sustain production will depend to a large degree on the frequency of rolling blackouts due to electricity shortages.
Nissan’s operations in Mexico, Canada and Brazil do not expect to be impacted by any supply or production constraints at this time.
Vehicle Stock / May Ordering
Nissan brand has visibility of more than 260,000 units in dealer stock, at port or in transit from Japan while Infiniti brand is operating with more than 35,000 units of availability. These are both healthy stock situations and better than at the same point last year.
Nissan and Infiniti retailers are being notified today that the company will follow a normal schedule for May ordering. All customer and dealer vehicle orders will be processed without delay and dealers will see no interruption in their ability to order Nissan or Infiniti vehicles.
“Our supply chain teams in Japan and America continue to work relentlessly to resolve the bottlenecks as they appear, so that our manufacturing operations have an uninterrupted activity to support market needs,” said Carlos Tavares, chairman, Nissan Americas.

Bodytechz 03-25-2011 08:24 AM

I guess my concern is that my order was submitted on Feb. 3rd and I haven't a clue when I will get it, although I'm sure Nissan Japan is doing all that is possible to get their production schedules back in order. Still, I soooooo can't wait to get my new Z! :ughdance:

poorazn 03-25-2011 08:54 AM

So whats this mean? Nissan Americas May ordering is on track? Does that have any relation to 370Z ordering (made in Japan)?

jazz 03-25-2011 10:51 AM

nissan canceled my order...they do not see getting any 370z until the fall.

if you want one...you need to jump on what is at the dealers.

jazz 03-25-2011 12:57 PM

MC 03-25-2011 01:22 PM

Bodytechz 03-25-2011 01:51 PM

Well, just talked to my dealer and yep, all 370z orders are cancelled. My dealer is going to look around and see what he can find. Of course, he doesn't want to lose a sale. But damn, I'm so bummed, I was so looking forward to getting my PW Z touring w/persimmon, sports, NAV ugh!:ugh2:

Just go buy a used one or in stock one, might have to fly out to get one but you will have a Z.

Fairladycan 03-25-2011 02:04 PM

I placed my order on January 7th. Was called on Monday, and told that the production was starting this week. I asked when will it be delivered...... I was told end of June first part of July. No other news from the dealer. I think I will call them to see if the order was cancelled.

MC 03-25-2011 02:29 PM

the problem with the Zs is not just the inventory that was damaged at the ports... and not just that the plant was down for 2 weeks... its the VQ engine situation.. that plant is still down last i heard..

jazz 03-25-2011 04:33 PM

WELL....just got the news!!! in getting the Gun Metal!! roadster with auto, sport and nav. sold it to me for 53100.00 plus tax...also gave me undercoating and 3m...the car is in canada and on the rail, asfor delivery 1-2 weeks!!

Fairladycan 03-25-2011 05:04 PM

My order was cancel also. What a disapointment. Three months ...

Fairladycan 03-25-2011 05:10 PM
