I forgot about the insurance. More expensive than my Subaru

I'll have my car Sat 1500 a year from USAA

6spd 10-21-2010 07:30 PM

thats way too much jeez.

btw, too many new threads dude, slow down a bit.

PapoZalsa 10-21-2010 07:33 PM

WOW! I paid that with USAA for 2 brand new cars (SUV & Z) plus liability for my truck in a year.

You must be real young or have a bunch of traffic tickets.

memorylasts 10-21-2010 07:34 PM

I have USAA also paying about $200 a month, my 2009 Audi A4 Quattro was about $250 and my 2008 VW GTI was $225 this is all on a clean driving record, at age 24, Also where i currently live is about~$20 more then where i did in san diego.

If you study your insurance page a bit you will find that there are deductions that you, yourself can put in, if they ask for proof though thats on you.

This.

And yes, mine is like less than $800 per yr.

Jeffblue 10-21-2010 08:04 PM

wtf.... i'm paying 1300 per 6 months with geico for comptehensive, and i'm a secondary on my parents policy. that's because i'm 22 i guess.

I have a perfect driving record and Geico wanted to charge me double what Mercury is currently charging. :shakes head:

I think might be both, however check with different insurance companies.

also, increase your deductible. going from $500 deductible to $1000 deductible will save you around 25% in your premium cost (most of the time)

Yeah, rates vary so much between insurance companies. I'm 25 and with State Farm, my rate is "only" $450 /6 months. There are definitely decent rates to be found. (Although I do think insurance is a total ripoff.)

i'm not sure how i feel about that. i had my wheels stolen less than a month after i got my car. paying the 500 deductible wasn't very fun. 1000 feel any better. damn, geico is rippoff  my freaking altima coupe 2.5s was 1100 for 6 months.

Waiz 10-21-2010 08:36 PM

You should shop around your insurance every couple of years just to make sure you're getting the right rate.

Most quotes are free and online so it's not a ton of effort to check if your rate with other companies

do the math...

$2600 / year

$1950 / year with $1000 deductible

so long as you dont get your wheels stolen more than once every 2 years, $1000 deductible pays off ;)

dropped1 10-21-2010 08:40 PM

I'm paying $1100.00 for 6 months, $1k deductible (State Farm) No tickets, or accidents. :shakes head:

jginnane 10-21-2010 08:45 PM

Changed from GEICO to esurance.com. Three cars; all w/ $2K deductible on collision. Premium $708 for 6 months -- $1416 a year.

This 6-month payment was $460 cheaper than the GEICO renewal quote, which jumped 18% over the last 2 renewals. No explanation from GEICO, but wow, we sure get to see a lot of their ads everywhere. :(

cerruto 10-21-2010 10:09 PM

Im at $83 a month with progressive, every other insurance co wanted me to pay around $130 a month. I suggest calling every provider you can find till one hits it right.

fullmonty 10-21-2010 10:40 PM

A couple years ago I was shopping for insurance, and Geico was the most expensive by around $300-$400 than any other company.

I'm also paying 800/yr. and I thought that was high, but I rear ended a Honda passport with my 94 Regal, Liberty Mutual payed out 6300 on the claim and the only thing I knocked off or damaged was the spare tire assembly underneath the rear bumper and the tail pipes. I hit the wife of BMW service manager, go figure:icon17:

Spec Jay 10-22-2010 12:13 AM

1500/year

1 ticket left on my record

Vegasboricua 10-22-2010 02:12 AM

But why was I being charged $500 more annually with Geico than I am with Mercury?

I'm at $96/month with my 40th Anniversary through Progressive and I'm 24 with no tickets. Weird thing is that my 2009 370Z was $118/month with the same coverage and then I totaled it and got a brand new one and the insurance went down..... weird.

Geico wanted $240/month for the 2009 370Z that I had with NO tickets and NO accidents.

Try Progressive ladies and gentlemen.

Jeffblue 10-22-2010 07:14 AM

i'm in new york, no tickets or anything. i'm 22.1300 for 6mo

TongMan 10-22-2010 08:47 AM

I am currently paying $9xx every 6 months...so thats $18xx every year...FML...oh and I'm 26 and insured with SafeCo.

c41006 10-22-2010 08:50 AM

I am insured with USAA and paying around 2k per year.

ClemsonWill 10-22-2010 09:19 AM

I pay $225 per month for full coverage on 3 cars, my wife, and I. I have been with other carriers but I have always come back to State Farm. On and thats with my wife having had a ticket in the last 3 years.

Diocletian 10-22-2010 12:46 PM

Paying 1400 a year for mine with allstate, $600 collision/deduct, accident forgiveness and all that crap.

ThoriumHotdog 10-22-2010 01:09 PM

I've been quoted around 2-3k a year. Mainly because I haven't been driving my car and let the insurance lapse. I'm certain I can get that down to a reasonable rate though.

tjlazer 10-22-2010 02:27 PM

38 y/o. $1600/yr for two vehicles. $500 deductible. GEICO

Just tried to get a quote to increase deductible to $1,000 and it only saved me $116/yr. Not sure that's even worth it?

dang370z 10-22-2010 03:55 PM

If you don't get into accidents often then it would save you in the long run..

Location is a huge factor. I remember when I inquired about a new polcy for a new Honda Accord back when I was 18, I was quoted by multiple insurance companies at around $4500/yr, with no blemishes on my record (new driver). This was when I lived in Staten Island, NY.

If you live in NY and NJ, you are more or less SOL. The rest of you folks are way better off. I'm in NJ now, and paying $2700/yr for the Z (limited use)and my daily driver (scion tC) with only me on the policy. I've had a flawless driving record for over 10 years now, and this was the best I could do.

Insurance for males is high until they reach 25-26 years old. It will significantly drop afterwards. For women we only have to have a license for 5 years til our drop.
But I would check out Progressive. I do a free quote online every year and get a cheaper quote than my current Insurance co. They'll match, and I pay $1325 a year with $500 deductable

Jamaica 10-23-2010 12:54 AM

I have wawanesa. Its 1767 with full coverage. And thats including my rims and bodykit.
