Ok, where can we find the best insurance. My guess is that it is valued around $65k with a ton of mods. Have any suggestions? It is not a daily driver, but we do take a lot of long road trips. That will mean our mileage will be around 15k+ a year. I heard of a company in Texas that insures "show cars". Forget Hagerty, they have a mileage restriction.

Any suggestions would help.

Thanks!

All you guys are throwing out numbers but the big question is what kind of coverage do have? The bigger the policy the more you will pay. Dont know about any other states but people in ny are sue happy scumbags! All you have to to is tap some one and your being sued for 2mil! Thats why rates are high pluse its a no-fault state..

i shopped around for my insurance. i went with geico. however if you're the gambling type, i know nationwide has 5,000 deductibles. that's pretty high but if you want a lower 6 month rate, that is one way to go

the problem with that, besides having a extremely large ded., is the finance company/bank (assuming its not paid off) will typically only allow you to have a maximun limit of 1000 for the comp/coll ded..some banks will not allow you to have more than 500..

I went to their website. The car must be at least 20 years old. I have 19 more years to go. lol

Thanks for the suggestion!

Insurance

I hate to be mean - wait, actually it's fun. I have been paying about $350/year on my 1998 Integra with State Farm. My 2011 370Z will cost about $120 more per year.

The secret is to have the house, three cars, a boat, and an umbrella policy all with the same company. It doesn't hurt to have a long, clean record, low mileage, and to live in South Carolina. Oh, one more thing; being old is not all bad.

to me, cheap insurance rate may not be good.
years ago, someone crashed into my car and took off.
the insurance company i had at the time paid for the repairs but they instructed the body shop to use "economy" parts.

my current insurance company may not be the cheapest but the last time i had to use their service, they paid whatever the body shop wanted and didn't specify the use of "economy" parts.

I was paying $1600 a year with Geico until I checked around and found much cheaper rates with other companies. I ultimately decided on Amica and now my premium is $1080 a year before defensive driving (Geico rate includes it already), which will bump it down to the $900 range... so I saved a bunch of money by switching from Geico lol oh and I just turned 30 this year, been driving for 8 years with no accidents or traffic violations

This sounds like total BS, insurance companies are not allowed to "instruct" the repair shop how it is to be repaired. All repairs to vehicles are to be done TO THE SAME STANDARDS FOR ALL CUSTOMERS!!!

That or you got totally screwed! Just a prime example of the man sticking it to you, bend over buddy just bend over.........

Lol, NY is a no fault state yes, hense you CAN'T sue...
At fault driver covers the collision, your insurance covers your medical. There's no sueing to be had, unless it goes over something like $50k in medical. You can't even collect diminished value in NY.
Not sure where you get the idea you can just sue someone for hitting your car, you can't unless they don't have insurance.

the are required to bring the condition of the vehicle back to the condition before the accident. THey may use whatever parts they choose to do so...
however if the work is not performed to your standards you may choose to reject it. YOU sign the check to the bodyshop, no one else.

Yes but in these conditions: being the same standard as before.

Means that would = OEM standards :tiphat:
