Long Island Dealers (Crooks lol)

I went into several dealers today. The first dealer ran the numbers and presented a 780$/month lease payment for 36 months on a white/touring/sprt/AT/nav/+xtras with only putting 3 grand down.

He was basically making me pay 66% of the cars value in three years. But he set the sticker at 40k. Since leasing is out due to such a high payment do you guys think if I were to buy the car and finance the 40k its a good deal?

I'm not out for blood when negotiating a purchase price. I feel that a couple hundred over invoice is a pretty fair deal for everyone.

Default It's a buyers market

I'm out for blood, DNA and whatever else I can get out of a dealership. I wouldn't lease in this economic climate, when I know I can get the car at invoice or under. Give it time, Nissan sales are down 31% and dropping and dealers can't continue to finance their inventory. I'll give you one guess what they have to do...It is not an option to sell the cars for what the market will bare even it means taking a slight lost to offset going under.

Lease FTL.

Buy FTW!!!

Seriously, right now, dumping your money into a lease right now is as good an idea of burning your money in a fireplace. $780/mo is RIDICULOUS. That's exactly what your payment would be for a 5 year loan (4 years with $5K down). And at the end of the loan, you get to KEEP the car!

Auto Loan Calculator and Car Payment Calculator - Capital One

Invest into equity if you're going to throw money like that out the door! Worst case scenario is that if you can't afford the car, you sell it back and even if you lose a few hundred dollars, you didn't loose $28K like you would at the end of this lease! (780x36= $28,080! CRAZY!)

Another problem is that the lease will hold you to a maximum mileage and any thing they need to fix/replace when the car comes back, YOU'RE LIABLE FOR!

When you do the math, you should realize that the lease = lose/lose. (It's never your car and you're just paying really high rental rates!)

Sorry, but unless the you're writing off the entire lease on your taxes (which you probably can't) it's not worth it to ever lease.

Hey, I'm getting the same kind of quotes down here in VA. This from an e-mail I got yesterday;

"my business manager worked out some lease figures and it looks like the 39 months lease works out better by about $30.
Your total initial cap cost comes to $3,200 and you are looking at a monthly of just under $640 for the remaining 38 payments. This is on a Touring with navigation without the sports package."

At that rate I could lease a BMW 535ix . . . not that I would, lol. Infiniti is still offering $399 for 39 months with about $3200 down for an 08 G37 coupe, so who knows.

Yeah on the island I went to three different dealers who all hit me with a mid 700 number for leasing...One guy was charging 43k for a touring auto without nav and sprt...i almost laughed. Anyway I think the only option when going with this car is to buy it.
