nogoodname 08-30-2009 12:22 AM

not really, silver goes well with red.

have fun removing the tape

you should fill in nismo on the rims red......

Vectorsumio 08-30-2009 12:24 AM

^^ I started to fill in the Nismo... Electrical tape is a *beep* to work in fine areas with. But I want to see it in the light tomorrow. With no flash lol.

nogoodname 08-30-2009 12:27 AM

try it out and see

if you black the rims.... you need to black out other things, like rear valence...taillights and head light housings to match

frost 08-30-2009 12:30 AM

Whoa, why does the fender gap look so huge all of a sudden.

Anyway, If the brakes and the nismo were red, maybe it would be a go.

!xoible 08-30-2009 12:52 AM

if u wanna do it, ditch the red ring. i think silver beats it though.

U-NVmyZ? 08-30-2009 01:03 AM

i think that looks sick, my opinion, i dont like when ppl black out everything, i say u do what u had planned, no tint on the windows..

Endgame 08-30-2009 08:00 AM

gun metal would have worked better. i like your thinking however!!

Shunya 08-30-2009 09:00 AM

Like nogood already mentioned silver is the way to go.
actually I believe it is the best color for red.

nogoodname 08-30-2009 09:40 AM

:iagree:

Mike 08-30-2009 10:43 AM

I like! But then again, look at my avatar.

nogoodname 08-30-2009 10:52 AM

^^ black rims on black car.... nice

on red though, not really

Shunya 08-30-2009 10:54 AM

^yeup only silver cuts imo

Togo 08-30-2009 11:00 AM

Silver or Gunmetal look good on red IMO.

fuct 09-01-2009 11:23 AM

ive even seen a few cars with bronze on red... i really liked it!

Shunya 09-01-2009 11:24 AM

^ really depends on wheel selection.

CrownR426 09-01-2009 11:30 AM

Do what you want to do.
It's your car, I'm tired of seeing the samethings.

bigaudiofanat 09-01-2009 03:34 PM

I like it both ways actually, the black with the red line and if you filled in the nismo with red I think it would look pretty good. Than again they already look goo in silver.

bullitt5897 09-01-2009 04:25 PM

electrical tape FTW!

phelan 09-01-2009 04:37 PM

silver wheel is irking me considering i blacked the fangs, rear valence, have dark tints, and i'm going to body match the door handle...

no love for gunmetal or titanium?

LOL! thats what I was thinking. Why get them painted??? just get the tape out... looks great in the pics!

Dreamin'Z 09-01-2009 08:47 PM

Love it

tonmed123 09-01-2009 09:55 PM

Id loose the Nismo wheels and replace with the sport wheels + spacers...gunmetal. I agree Red looks good with the stock wheels

Vectorsumio 09-01-2009 10:59 PM

Went around to shops today to get quotes on the job. So far only one company said they can do what I'm looking for. That company, however, seemed scary to me. So, the hunt continues.

Hopefully the goal I have will do something for this car that I've been wanting for a long time now. A Slimming look. I want the eye to draw up to the painted car instead of the large wheels. The silver pulls your focus away from the car. Just like that damn door handle.

So, tomorrow the wheels come off and the painted pieces will be soon headed back.

No way would I leave this kinda temptation (the car) with any company other than Nissan. :icon08:

I like it, it's just the gap is suprisingly noticable, so I say go for it and just pick up some coils

I've been thinking of powder coating my wheels for awhile now, I go back and forth because my Cooper S has black wheels and they look great, but get dirty so fast.
The silver wheels on the Z always look good, even when dirty.

If you go with black, IMO the stripe makes the wheel looks smaller on a 19" rim. Also reminds me of all the $150 cheap wheels that come with a red stripe these days.
If you do go with a stripe, I think it would look better thinner. See pic attached.

NYBladeZ 09-25-2009 10:45 AM

how is the tape going to hold up over time. I can't deny it looks pretty good now but if it starts peeling it won't look right. I say stick with the red ring, looks original

Why not? Think of it as a Clear Bra but in black..and for your wheels! :D

Sweet pics!

I almost went ahead with this project this last week until I saw something at one of the shops I visited. It's called "black chrome" and OMG was it sexy!!!

Your photo of the Nismo with the black looks exactly like what I want. I've thought about the red strip a lot too, I just wanted something to "tie" the red into the mix. For what ever reason, the silver on these rims is just crap to me. I saw a new sports/touring with the rims they come with and the silver on those is like 10x more shinny and it's finished throughout the rim, ours are just painted on the outside and the inside is all overspray. (hate it)

this car is so cool.

Updated first post with the new stock rims painted and powder coated.

Had them all of a day and all 4 will need to go back to get redone. Scratched them to hell!

very clean.. how'd you scratch them?

don't know what color to powder coat my rims, thinking about it.

Vectorsumio 10-27-2009 04:23 PM

Give me a few, I'll post the damaged rims... I showed the good side... lol

The first picture is out of focus. But you can see where it has pierced right through the powder-coat into the rim.

Unfortunately all 4 got scraped up in some way. (No, I can't believe it either)

chuckd05 10-27-2009 08:21 PM

thats hysterical

who powdercoated these for you? I have some volk TE 37 with the same exact color style and need to have them re coated

how did you blacken the center caps too? permanent marker?

Vectorsumio 10-27-2009 09:15 PM

That was all done by the shop. They surprised me with the painted caps!

Smallywood 10-27-2009 10:47 PM

How in the world did you do that damage to your wheels?
