I really can't wait to get one and get it dynoed baseline

Crash 12-25-2008 02:12 AM

Me too... It's going to piss my friends off at Haddad Motorsports when it dynos more than they're expecting! :D

18rgcelica73 12-26-2008 01:11 PM

It's awesome getting a car that nobody thinks will break any records and then it ends up beating there higher end cars.

Crash 12-26-2008 04:24 PM

^^^^ Yeah. Did ya'll see the DB9 vs. 370z??? It was pure comedy!

18rgcelica73 12-27-2008 03:19 PM

No I never saw that I take it the z took it.

Slidefox 12-27-2008 04:27 PM

Mmmm... DB9

Crash 12-27-2008 04:31 PM

In pretty much everything except the 1/4 mile and 0-60... (Lack of 6 extra pistons!)

The Z stopped better, handled better, slalom faster, etc...

FWIW, I am sitting at 296 WHP on my 07 z 6mt with Injen dual (ultra long-tube)intakes, Stillen HFC, and Bassani exhaust. Not even a tune yet. And that's on a SAE corrected Dynojet.

I have high hopes for the 3.7. Can't wait to see what 370 owners come up with.

Crash 12-28-2008 12:53 AM

Need to get those torque numbers up!!!

I want to see around 280Lbs torque!

That motor revs good, but I want to see what low-end numbers can be pulled. Has anyone looked into a heads/cam package for this motor yet?

shumby 12-28-2008 01:08 AM

the torque curve for the 370z will be flater

Crash 12-28-2008 01:50 AM

But I still want MORE torque... I like torque.

here check for yourself!

I forgot about this post. I was hoping that someone could substantiate the claims of 350whp with those ridiculously simple mods. Then I just saw this link in the above post today.

According to the this link the dyno pull was done on a "Mustang" Dyno and it read 344rwhp from the mods listed.:wtf2: Doesnt sound right at all imho. Dont really care about dyno numbers, I care more about the track mph. That will be a good indication of the cars power. That will seperate the bs from fact. Would love to see this supposed 344rwhp G run the 1/4. It should have a trap speed of around 108-110mph + imho if its really making that kind of power right?

then perhaps you should be looking more @ mustangs & corvettes? :D

What do you mean?

^ +1 suspension and brakes have nothing to do with the power generated

I think he was inferring that it might be an auto trans instead of the manual transmission. Automatics are typically less efficient than manuals, hence more power loss through the drivetrain (lower wheel horsepower)

Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races

Well if the 370z is trapping at 105.8 obviously much much lighter than the g I would think with the base power being 277rwhp and then putting in the extra to get to the magical 344rwhp mark, I can easily say they will be trapping higher than 110mph. Can't wait to find out.:excited:

too much torque though will get you spinning to nowhere.. (although I think I'm gonna have to start quoting you with that one)

Luckily, I will never set foot on a Honda forum unless I wanted to turbocharge my lawnmower.

:wtf2:

18rgcelica73 12-31-2008 12:21 AM

Sorry but it's not only torque that wins races, remember that horsepower is derived from torque. You need both horsepower and torque to win the most races though.

shumby 12-31-2008 12:35 AM

torque wins the 1/4 mile.

Mr. BigHam 12-31-2008 12:39 AM

^^ "wins" and yes he is right.;)

Crash 12-31-2008 02:34 AM

Agreed. Electric cars are fast because they make torque, not power. Unfortunately, it seems that the biggest misconception people have is about what torque and horsepower are.

The t-zero electric car does 0-60 in under 4 seconds with less than 200 hp. (I think it was around 180). But because it makes 180Lbs of torque and it gets 100% of it's torque from 0 RPM to 6000 RPM, it accelerates faster than a 500 HP Viper.... Problem is that most ICE (internal combustion engine) cars lose 80% of their power through heat and vibration.

Anyway, back to the subject, if the 370z's hp/tq numbers where swapped, the car would be a LOT faster. (Which is why superchargers are the number 1 racing forced air choice)

18rgcelica73 01-01-2009 11:55 AM

Yeah probably why I will supercharge mine when it is paid off.

Crash 01-01-2009 01:49 PM

Good luck. You'll need to figure out a way to get the SC to push air very evenly through to both throttal bodies. Dual throttal body setups are really best with turbos. The air flow is naturally even and there's still a lot of control and potential with the trubos. Upgrades are better as well. But if you're willing to spend the money, I'd love to see it happen.

The hardest part of doing a SC on a car not meant for it is finding a place to put the SC. I can only thing that using the magnacharger design is the only way. And that is to replace the entire intake manifold with a root-style blower.

I'd love to see it happen though.

Namir 01-01-2009 02:19 PM

The supercharger vs turbocharger debate comes down to where you want your power. If you want huge power, go with a single big-turbo set up and you can easily put down big numbers (with appropriate engine build).

Superchargers usually offer less power but offer it throughout the power band. This usually means more low end torque and good standing acceleration (good 1/4 times).

ksfrogman 01-01-2009 03:44 PM

You live in NJ. The results seem to be in metric.

Can you please explain the results in English? i.e., English standard units (HP, and torque in lbs-ft)?

EDIT: Forget what I just said. I'm stupid for not reading the thread title.

LiquidZ 01-01-2009 05:54 PM

I want a pair of small turbos.
