IMHO I don't think it is the Z itself that doesn't like rain, but the fact that we put on high performance tires that seem to have the rear tires wear out quickly for some reason ;)

It was raining/snowing today and my Blizzaks were very solid. Also, when I put on tire from now on I will always put on a complete, new set. Sometimes the fronts will last twice as long as the rears, but to me that is dangerous in the Z.

Thanks for the concern guys.

To answer some questions:
1) Yes, it is the UAM CF Amuse kit
2) Could be hydroplane, also I'm still rockin my stock tires at 25k
and I was in the process of having a set of RE-11 installed.
3) Mostly cosmetic damage, I'm just worried about the axle, toe kit, suspension and the loud hissing noise from the engine bay.

I'll keep everyone posted for updates. If the car needs replacement depending on my insurance's decision, the replacement most likely wont be a Z34 anymore.

What spooks me the most was I was going 55mph, and the bags didn't even bother deploying... :shakes head:

Exact same thing happened to me, i had 20k on my tire, went on freeway to my gf's house, car feels like its floating on its own to the right, immediately got off on the next exit and ordered some new tires...

I've driven plenty of "sports cars" in the rain and have never run into this problem. To me, it is ALL about the condition of the tires and not the vehicle itself. If there are no grooves to displace the water, the tires are actually floating on top. This is a very valuable lesson learned.

I am very anal about my tires, so at the first sign of low treads, they will be replaced.

OP, glad you are OK and like others have said, the car can be fixed. Hope to see you a Z-Days.

Tire condition is very important in any situation. I got 26k outta my rears, but I wanted to see how long they would last being the stock tires. I was impressed with them, but will not be pushing that far again. I have Hankook V12s on the rear and the sock Advan Sports on the front (getting bald) right now, but will be replacing all 4 with new Advan A08s when I get back to the states. If you are going to do spirited driving in a moderate capacity, I would stay away from the V12s and get something more aggressive. They don't stack up well against the Advans, unless we are talking about price!

OP:

How did everything go with insurance and repairs?

Thanks for everyone's concern. Anyhow, apologies for not updating this thread. Few things, the Z is almost finished in repairs. The damages were the whole left side of the car, rims, tires, entire suspension and seatbelt pillar. The insurance appraised the damages to the total of $9400. They would not cover my front bumper for being aftermarket and the tires for normal wear and tear which puts me with an out of pocket of $1600. It went high coz I told the shop to upgrade the tires to RE-11, 265/35/19 F and 305/30/19 R. I'll post new pics once repairs are complete.
