I was expecting the side airbags at least to deploy, I literally slammed on the left median of the freeway. And I was so looking forward to this april's z-car west coast nationals! :shakes head:

really sucks especially considering it seems like such a fluke accident. 55 mph and start hydroplaning sucks bad

67ZNISMO 02-13-2012 02:47 AM

glad you're ok man! hopefully that kit can be repaired!

KingZee 02-13-2012 02:59 AM

Damn dude those pics made me cringe...good luck to you and the Z, glad you're ok, everything else is just material

bigsix 02-13-2012 08:44 AM

that's gotta be scary losing control at highway speeds...

haitech 02-13-2012 11:59 AM

Hopefully it can be restored to what it was before

Wow, sad to hear, and even more sad to hear if you are replacing it you arent going back to a 370.

That depends on many variables that don't always depend on speed. Great to see you are ok, it is never fun to go through this. :(

It doesn't look like the damage was severe enough to trigger the airbags. It's probably a good thing too. Having it deployed isn't exactly like resting your head on a pillow. I've seen people walk away with their face bruised up after it's deployed. It's meant to save your life, not prevent injury. It also looks like you skimmed of the barrier... in which case, the impact would have been a lot less (maybe equivalent to a 5-10mph impact)than a head on 55mph impact. If it were a 55mph impact, the driver seat and passanger seat would be occupying the same space. You don't know how lucky you are. Best of luck in getting her fixed.

Lol you had a bad day? This morning a suicidal man jumped from the 805 to the 8. I work at Scripps Mercy and they were deciding whether to send him here or not..

I found a bug (no word "drives"):

karotZ 02-17-2012 11:51 AM

UPDATE:

As expected, my insurance will not cover the aftermarket bumper but everything else is which is good. Total damages were estimated at $9400.
I'll keep this thread updated til' she's back to driveable condition.

Wow that sucks man. If it gets in the shop now, I don't see any reason that the car can't be ready for Z Dayz.
