Renderings of the Next-Gen Z...
2 Attachment(s)
I just returned from Japan this morning and while I was over there I had the opportunity to peek at the new issue of Best Car Magazine. They had a few renderings of what they think the new Z will look like.
The first one is very similar to the other silver/grey rendering that's been floating around, but the second one shows elements from the old Z32 300ZX's taillights. The tentative date for release was mentioned at 2013. |
someone just took some of the other z "concepts" and added them to a current Z body.
|
I've been around since the 350z and when drawings of the 370z came out it ended up looking nothing like the real 370z. But thanks for the drawings as I do enjoy any info on the z35. Real images probably won't be out until 2013.
|
I kinda like the second one. Kind of a cross between the 370z, 240, and a DB9.

spot on...hopefully no fangs |
Could be a lot like Motor Trend renderings? Just an artist's vision?
And I like the fangs. |
I don't mind the fangs especially after blacking out the headlights.

ew....

|

They took the worst part of the 300zx - the tail lights. Also, where are the curvy fender flares?

If you flipped it upside down, sort of.
But yeah, these just look like artists renderings and we all know how those turned out when predicting the 370Z. Plus no one really knows if the Z line is going to continue (poor sales). |
The next Gen Z will have to up its HP if it wants to compete and sell more in this market... Here is why. Both the Comaro and mustang make more power in the same price range... also, The Z finds itself at the time stuck between 2 markets the entry level Performance cars like the EVO, STI, Genesis and etc... and the mid level performance cars like the Mustang, camaro, corvette, charger, 335i, m3 and etc...
So the problem is they neither fit in the lower bracket or the upper bracket... there are several options to fix this dilemma. However, I would like to see the Z step up to the upper bracket but not to compete with the GTR... I think this would be doable... I think if they SC'd the Z or Turbo'd the motor it wouldnt be too much of burden on development... what I would really like to see is a highly efficient high compression low displacement V8!!! I am thinking a 3.5L 9-10k rpm range... That would be SWEET! |
3.5? thats quite low for a V8.. make that 4.0 V8 and the next gtr having a 4.5 motor
how's that? Quote:

The new mc4-12 has a 3.8 low compression twin turbo V8 so a 3.5 high compression motor is not too far of a stretch ;)
|
It's a Nissan v8 btw ;)
|
yeah its true but its a Mclaren not a Nissan.. simply said, just wait and see how it will turn out :)
and btw, have your build finished yet? Quote:

Hmmm call me skeptical but Best Car is notorious for being wrong.
This was their 370Z rendering, completely off.. http://blogs.motortrend.com/files/20...67-623x362.jpg |

I don't want to see a V8. We see what the GTR motor can do so why not meet in the middle.
|
I would guess small turbos on a smaller displacement 2.5 V6 is the more likely direction.
Given CAFE standards and how cheap Nissan is, a one-off V8 in this car is not happening. What they do with the next generation G37 engine will probably be a preview of things to come. |
A 250Z. No way. It has to have a 3 in it at least.
|
Or they could just do the 370ZX and make that TT... :ugh2:

I kinda like the throw back...
but I love the 300zx |

2.5 liter V12 SC TT -- I'll take it :)
|
I wouldn't be surprised if they stayed in the 3 liter realm.. no smaller then a 3.0L tt...
who knows, maybe they are re-engineering the VG30Dett!! |
Why are the nismo rays on every single concept/idea/vision of an upcoming z model to date? I love the wheels but I dont see the value in selling a future concept sitting on a current set of wheels. Nice to see the fangs are gone(for now).
|
If they continue the Zs (that's a big IF), I would put my money on smaller displacement with FI. This would help fuel economy while also keeping the car competitive with the Mustang and Camaro price. I would really love to see a slimmed down lighter version of the car.

a VQ30VHETT |

on the pics from the op, that rear image has IDENTICAL lines to z4 M.
lower displacement FI should be where nissan looks to go... get back to their roots. throwing a v8 up there would add weight to the car, make it even more nose heavy and completely go against the Z's pedigree. might as well slap a mustang badge on the front if we go big v8... my $0.02... |
like previously stated from past Z's and their renderings looking nothing like production but if the next gen Z were to looks like these then the 370z will be the 1st and last Z i buy.
