Going back on monday due to service department being closed.

LakeShow 11-12-2011 03:49 PM

I'm going back Tuesday for full evaluation and the verdict on what needs to be done to correct the paint on this brand new car.

Well, since i got bored I fired off an inquisitive email to Nissan about the proper course of action (both for my info as well as the dealer if I have issues there). I know I won't get a response before Monday, but at least the ball is rolling for me. I'll keep you guys updated on what happens with mine since it isn't too bad my hopes aren't high, but it should be under warranty so I might as well fix it.

Skeeterbop and Lakeshow: keep us informed. I want to see if I should go ahead and take my car to have my 2 paint issues looked out.

Wow, I'm glad I came across these thread. I have an 09, PW, and I have a couple spots on the car like you guys are describing. At first, I just thought i could clay bar off... didn't work, tried waxing it, still nothing. I looked really closely and noticed its under the clear coat. It looks like a darkish color stain about the size of a dime. I have 2 spots where I found these.

Can you post a pic?

Going back again this afternoon, I talked to one of the service guys and he looked at it and agreed with me. But he said the service manager would have to look it over. I'm planning on washing it again before going in since it has been windy the last couple days and then rained last night.

Skeeterbop 11-14-2011 04:35 PM

Well, the dealership is going to do a repaint, but i believe only of the hatch since that is the only area i have an issue with. Taking it in next monday to drop off.

b1adesofcha0s 11-14-2011 04:46 PM

Hmm I have noticed some spots on my hood that I could not get off the last 2-3 times I washed the car. Not sure if it is the same issue or not, but I will try to take pics soon. Only thing is mine is an 09 PG and not GM. Those spots weren't there before so it may be something else.

Also, I will post pics of my PG Z when I get home from work

This is what mine looks like, it actually goes all the way across this part of the hatch.

Holy sh** that's just exactly like mine. Isn't repainting go on carfax and depreciate or what? Also I heard they cannot match the paint exactly. That's bulls**t to repaint a car. That's unacceptable to repaint a brand new car. I have to go in tomorrow for my appointment.

Skeeterbop 11-14-2011 10:11 PM

I don't know, I think it depends on why they repaint it. I think that for something like this it shouldn't go on any history report since it is a defect from the factory. The minimal body work they did on my door when somebody backed into it; isn't on my carfax report I ran a couple days ago.

Now the most important thing is making the paint the same exact color it was before and match perfectly. I may be wrong on this but do they have to remove certain parts and panels of the car for painting. You know like the inside of the hood, inside the doors, inside the hatch, inside the gas tank, etc. Repainting is a serious job.

Skeeterbop 11-14-2011 11:00 PM

For something like this, I would think their priorities would look like this:
1. Mask the window very well
2. remove spoiler
3. Mask underneath the hatch and adjacent panels to keep overspray out/off.

looks like stretch marks lol. Don't trip too much on color matching. Its not that hard, just remember you get what you pay for.
