TARGA soooo immmma googley ;) lol two thumbs this should be an option pkg.

TopGone 10-10-2010 01:01 PM

Well, if we (Revoltion Kustomz, my wife, and I) get this all pinned down, it may turn into a kit. Who knows? That's what we would like to see. We don't wanna be the only targa out there. :hello:

We should know more in a couple of months. We would have to show the pros and cons with this mod. Every mod has at least one or both.

Thanks!

very Nice:tup:

Jose Aliling 10-10-2010 08:49 PM

wish nissan would make this nice!

jaedub 10-12-2010 12:12 AM

looks great but I think its a bad idea because if top is open, the air will rush right into the trunk thus creating a giantic paracheut holding the car back. no?

jaedub 10-12-2010 12:16 AM

and yeah, that a very sexy looking Z ztarga no doubt. just noticed it. one of the greatest mod so far!

Truck beds just build a pocket of air resulting in better aerodynamics. Perhaps the interior of the Z would do the same.

HKYStormFront 10-12-2010 08:00 AM

older targa's were the same way jae, supra MkIV (which even had back seats) for instance so it can't be that much of an issue. top off is for cruising and shows, top on is for racing anyway :)

It doesn't on the Corvette.

Actually, aerodynamically speaking, there is a small boundary layer of air maybe an inch or two thick around the car as it drives along that is between the slipstream and car, so the air will mostly flow right over the top and continue down the back.

HKYStormFront 10-12-2010 08:07 AM

yup i bet there is a small difference in drag but i bet it's negligible in comparison

370z 40th 10-12-2010 04:04 PM

thats f#%$$% badass

Mike, I can't tell you how sweet that looks. We thank you so very much!.....

Now, since I think we are the only ones that have first hand experience with wind turbulence.... When Amy and I were leaving Z1 Motorsports (ZNationals), I took it up to 80 mph on Villa Rica Hwy, (for the po-po out there - I was just dreaming I could take it up to 80 mph on the Villa Rica Hwy.) anyway, and it was way quieter than our Z32 t-top. We could not believe it. In our z32 Amy would need a headband, but with the targa she could get away not wearing one. I thought for sure we would need those air deflectors that you see on the z32 or even sun roofs, but we do not. Now, all our stuff was not in the back either, but from what was told to me it would be more airflow with the hatchback gutted like it is. So, with all our stuff back there, it should be better. Watch me eat those words! :(

^^ Props for the T-tops! Now make it look like the drool worthy Z that AK posted

Also i think that bar should be painted black, would look cleaner. Just an opinion.

Ztarga, did you get anymore pics of your car at SEMA? I'm dying to see the finished top.

TopGone 11-10-2010 09:26 PM

Hey,

Thanks all! We had a lot of fun at SEMA. We also spent about $180 in cab rides due to the fact our car was inCARcerated. It sucks not having your own ride.

I’ll post some pictures soon. It was amazing how many people came to check out the car every day, especially the Asians and young folks. I think there were more foreigners there than Americans at the show. Now, outside was a totally different story. It was open to the public and there were a lot of people outside checking out the cars. The Las Vegas Convention Center is OMG huge! We were there for a 6 days and we could not see everything. There is no way.

Anyway, back to reality. There is absolutely no bracing under the car. What, no bracing? We knew that Nissan built a stronger body for the z34 vs the z33 and we figured that it is just as strong as the z33 with the top off. We lifted the car with a single jack in the middle and the door closed perfectly. You can lift it on a car lift with no flexing. Now, as it stands now, I would not track the car. I don’t think I would track a Roadster as well. We are attending The Run 8 in Tampa and then in January/February we are going to do some flex testing. We want the data so we know where this mod stands. It has been driven by a handful of expert Z people and they said it is pretty solid, but the testing will tell the tail. Worst case we will add some reinforcement under the car. No biggie. Then the pricing will begin.

So far, Revolution Kustomz figures about $9,800 for the mod. You can have a Roadster or this mod for about the same price. The mod will be faster than ours due to the fact they had to figure out everything. We are also having a foldable soft top as well.

Revolution Kustomz is working on the final rear build for the car at their shop. We have actually gone with a Multiple Sclerosis theme for our car. We are just trying to raise awareness about this disease and maybe raise some money for this cause. We do not know of any car that is themed after a disease. It is becoming a “Car with a Cause.” Why not do something different? That seems to be our motto.

Nitex 11-11-2010 11:08 AM

^^ props guys, keep it up!

Chris_1 11-11-2010 11:34 AM

Keep it going Dean, put some pics up though. Start a new thread and put some pics up, How can you be hiding that thing?

Hey Dean,

It was a blast hanging out with you guys during SEMA week! I hope you enjoyed some of your videos on facebook hahahaha. I will hit yall up when the car comes back :D

TopGone 11-17-2010 08:49 PM

Same here. No, the videos are a hoot. You should post a few more.

SP!KE 01-16-2011 03:01 AM

Man I've been wanting a targa top on my Z for yearz

370zproject 04-07-2011 12:55 AM

mmm

issforged 04-08-2011 02:26 PM

from that angle it looks just like the supra targa top

TopGone 04-08-2011 05:27 PM

OK, I have been a bad, very bad, member. I know a lot of people are keeping up with our project and we have been MIA since a little before January.

I had to change our "ZTarga" to another name per Porsche’s attorneys. Yes, they sent us a formal letter. It is all legitimate. So, our new web site will be announced soon. No biggie, just some extra expenses and time. For what we did to this car, money seems to be no object. Yes, we are crazy. :shakes head:

I have some new pictures and we are prepping the car for ZDayZ. It is a totally awesome event.

I’ll keep everyone posted soon enough. I have to work on the ZDayZ web site first.

Thanks you guys for liking, not liking, and all the opinions – good, bad, and ugly. We are totally open to everything. We even tried the roll bars black (per a couple of comments that the yellow was just too much.) Well, we gave it a try and felt that the black was too utilitarian and not enough “show”. Yep, went back to the yellow.

~Dean

JB1 04-08-2011 06:30 PM

Dean, did you take the roll bar out for SEMA? I don't remember seeing it om the car there.

GiorgioZ 04-11-2011 06:18 PM

To be honest, I really miss the T-tops on my old 300zx. Love it.
