That kind of snow puts roofs in danger of collapse. I'd get a ladder and start clearing the roof off...

The snow was pretty lightweight, not much to worry about. If it was 2 feet of that heavy wet stuff then there would be a problem.

Yeah, it was the powdery kind. Made shoveling a breeze.

Fort-building, however, was difficult.

Played with my new GoPro again today. Slapped it onto the windshield. Its pretty boring really - I wish I recorded it while it was snowing. Sadly, I was stuck in work for 11 hours, and it was dark by the time I got home :(. Neighbors hated me - they worked their asses off shoveling just to escape, and I just drove over everything as if it wasnt there.

That's an awesome picture! Wallpaper material. Here are some pictures of mine BEFORE driving on the snow. I cleaned the snow off the Z and used few buckets of warm water to clean it (trying to compete with Steve here :p)

http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...w/DSC02815.jpg

http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...w/DSC02817.jpg

Then I took the Z out for a spin in the snow. The Blizzaks are GREAT. It's amazing how I can BRAKE on the snow. As I am driving on the snow, my common sense is telling me I won't be able to brake (or car is going to slide), but as soon as you apply brake, car stops! These tires are simply amazing. Most of the streets here still has plenty of snow on them. I was able to drive on them without any issues. Some of these roads, I won't even drive my dads FWD sedan on it! But Z drives without any issues. These tires just brings your confident level to a whole another level. Best investment in the Z so far.

NOW, I'm going to share some POST SNOW driving pictures.

WARNING: Viewers Discretion is advised if you're a Z enthusiast

As you can see, car is filthy! :shakes head: There is a layer of salt and snow dirt on the Z. Front bumper is completely covered with a layer of salt.

And now the worst

It's been horrible parking on the streets. On the edge of most streets, there are melted snow + road dirt + salt :shakes head: . On the pictures above you can see how my tires are deep in those dirty water. Those who lives is states where you do not get snow, be very very thankful!

kdo2milger 12-21-2009 03:47 PM

lol AK you scared me with those last two pictures

i thought both your right side tires were flat at first glance

Division 12-21-2009 03:48 PM

On the last picture, whats behind the tire? It looks oddly color matched. - at first I thought you got into an accident. That van has a nice crease where your hood would be, the tires look flat, and there's random pieces of plastic floating around.

Having recently relocated to Florida from Rhode Island, (and then buying the Z) I can say I'm not missing this one bit. This thread is all it took to convince me that snow is not for me.

I just placed an order for Pirelli Winter 240 Sottozero XL
I will let you guys know how it rides, once installed.

On the last picture, I believe it's a piece of broken plastic holder. I just noticed the van .. haha.

yeah what is that AK? i though you'd hit that van too :shakes head:

I thought the same thing about the last pics, thought those were flat tires!!

What is up with the tire/wheel size. Rear is tiny!

18"s for snow. At the narrower width, they are pretty sunken in the wheel wells. I noticed the same thing on my car when I first put them on. The benefit is that having the wheels sunken into the wells means less crap flung all over the side of the car.

GT Motoring 12-21-2009 06:05 PM

Yeah haha I understand that they just look so funny!

And I must say that the Blizzak LM-60s work really well in the snow. HOWEVER, I was going to install them myself in my driveway and I even bought the torque wrench AZ suggested, but after I took off the first wheel I found out that there is a 6th screw that needed to be removed, so I had to bring my car to Nissan to have the job done. They had to grind down all 4 winter wheels so they would fit over the 4th screw, and it ended up costing me an hour's worth of installation ($97). If you take off the sport wheels, you will see that the winter wheels don't fit right, so you either have to grind them down yourself or bring them to the dealership to have it done. Ugh... :shakes head:

what screw? is that the 12 mm bolt on the front wheels? wait a minute, you have the same wheel as mine. it took me 40 minutes to install all 4 rims. PLEASE tell me that you're NOT talking about the 12 mm screw in front wheels? it take 3 seconds to remove it with 12 mm wrench!!! NO GRINDING needed whatsoever!

G35guy84 12-21-2009 08:22 PM

OMG! I didn't think it could be removed without taking the car the the dealership! Why is the screw there in the first place?!?!?!? They put it in my bag of lug nuts. :shakes head:

It's a spacer to prevent the rear wheels from being accidentally placed on the front. Never needs to be reinstalled, no grinding required. If they were grinding something then it was for a different reason, like setback spacing between the brake caliper and the wheel spokes.

DUDE, no way! Are you serious? They charged you $97 for two 12 mm bolts that takes about 6 seconds to take off? :shakes head:

In my install thread http://www.the370z.com/wheels-tires/...cs-ak370z.html I mention this in one of the very first paragraph:
Quote:

Once the wheels are off, you'll notice a 12 mm bolt on both front lug area. You MUST remove this bolt. You will not need this bolt again (not even for the OEM rims/tires).
Spearfish mentions this in his thread as well,
Quote:

For anyone who has never installed an aftermarket rim before, I learned today that to get these rims to fit one has to remove a locator bolt on each of the car's hubs. Per Tirerack, the assembly line robots use the locator bolt to find and mount the wheels in the factory. The 12mm locator bolt is nestled between two of the 5 bolts on each hub and will prevent an aftermarket rim from fully seating until it's removed. Apparently it's not a big deal and Tirerack said to just take them off and dump them.
Now, what do you mean they grind down the wheels? did they damage the wheels? I can't believe the service manager allowed his techs to "grind" down a set of rims for no reason or are they totally lying to you and simply removed the bolts?

Sorry man. You're always more than welcome to ask. DO not hesitate to ask. Knowledge is power.

Looks like he has the exact same wheels as me which are "guaranteed by Tire rack" to clear AKEBONO sports brakes and they do. There's NO need to grind ANYTHING!

Then I would be asking for my $97 back, if they don't give it to him file a complaint with Nissan.

spearfish25 12-21-2009 09:43 PM

man oh man, I would be livid if I was him.

Yet another example of why I do my own car maintenance now.
