Re-read, dude. According to some "experts" here, there's no such thing as an "X.5" year model issue. I thought you were teasing me on my '04.5 Z issue (created by some of the "experts" here). If it ain't so, just ignore my previous comment. I never post anything to offend anyone, but seem to be misunderstood often by sensitive posters in this thread.

I am just messing with ya. The 2006 was, however, the first year that the auto had synco match downshifts. :)

Not true. I had a 2005 350Z 5AT before my 370Z. It had rev match down shifts. It was a good transmission. Look at this:

Speedo is in KPH

Stupid question. Was he not using the paddle shifters, or does the middle gauge always stay in "D" for drive. Does it not show the gears you are in like the manual? Does it show the gears you are in if you use the paddle shifters?

No prob', Lug! BTW, for whoever commented on a torque loss due to ATs, it's the other way around: ATs have more torque, to compensate for the fact that Mts, in theory, have a power advantage over ATs. I read this in some magazine a long time ago. Could any expert here verify this? Thanks.

12.8009 @ 110.3. 7AT. 408 gears. the 7 AT shift like greased lightning at 7400 with the paddle shifters.

Odd, the WIKI claims this:

.....For the 2006 model year, the 350Z received a number of notable changes for its mid-cycle facelift. The 300HP/260TQ Rev-up engine that was introduced mid-year 2005 with 6-speed manual was offered for every trim now. Purchasing a 5-speed automatic meant you still got the VQ35DE with 287HP/274TQ. The headlights now sported larger bi-xenon projectors, the front bumper had been revised, the rear taillights now use LEDs, and interior changes brought differences to the center console, among other small things. Touring and Grand Touring models have radio-steering controls standard, MP3 CD compatibility, and Satellite Radio became an available option. The 5AT transmission also received an update, which made it rev-match for every downshift.......

On the 350Z it shows the gear. I assume he wasn't using paddle shifters in the video. I also assume that if the throttle position is maxed, the transmission shifts as fast as it can.

I noticed that on wiki too. It's inaccurate though. I had an 05 350Z before my 370. It had the rev match downshifts. Sometimes I wonder why I went back to MT? LOL.

Im pretty sure he stayed in D the whole time and didnt use the paddles, if he would have used the paddles he might have done better time wise. I know that if I am in D and use the paddles the display will change to the gear Im in and then go back after awhile.

because the speedo is in Kmh no mph. looks like he hit 100kmh (60mph) at about 5.1 or 5.2 seconds.

I'm with a few of the others in that sometimes I wish I would have considered the auto tranny.
