The new picture does it more justice. The first picture almost make them look straight.

Darkstar87695 04-15-2010 09:36 PM

Yah I noticed that about the first picture. I went to my local Auto Graphics shop and got a few cut outs of flat black vinyl. He cut it out in 4 inch wide strips with a 2 or 3 inch space between them. From there I just aligned them how I wanted and stuck them on with a wet cloth to keep it damp and a hard card to flatten it. Wasnt hard. I thought about writing up a DIY but decided that it wasnt worth it.

Whats it feel like being the first and a trend setter? I say write up a DIY for it. Maybe not everyone likes it, but for those who do I'm sure they would be interested in it. You did both sides right?

Club35 04-16-2010 04:06 AM

i just had to

Darkstar87695 04-16-2010 06:51 AM

Haha I dont know if I would consider myself a trend setter yet or anything. I will definitely look into writing up a DIY when I get the chance. Yah, I did both sides in the same spots.

Also, "Club35" that looks interesting. I like how you incorporated the hood lines like that. I say go out and do it then post pictures! lol

I think that would look pretty bad *** on a track car

Darkstar87695 04-16-2010 10:29 AM

Agreed! I dont know if I would like it off the track tho.. Im more into simple and simple but they might work very well for others. Its all about personal preference!

mayesj101 04-16-2010 01:12 PM

Eh-the full-striped cars are a little much for the street, but I really do like the GS lines!

Jessica 04-16-2010 08:27 PM

I can't believe I still haven't seen you around town. I'm always on the lookout for other Zs. What part of town did u say you live in?

Darkstar87695 04-16-2010 09:01 PM

I live on the Killearn side of town. I go downtown about twice a week, so i'm suprised I havnt seen you either! I rarely see a 370z and when I do I try to atleast wave. If you guys ever want to set up a meeting with all the Z's in Tallahassee I would be totally up for it!

Jessica 04-16-2010 09:44 PM

I live out Buck Lake area and am downtown every week day for work.

Darkstar87695 04-17-2010 12:19 PM

Im suprised I have not seen you!

cdawg410 04-17-2010 01:59 PM

Love what you did man, looks great.

370zdub 04-17-2010 02:23 PM

I'm diggin it man. It would really be set off if you did your wheels in Matte Black.

Darkstar87695 04-17-2010 04:43 PM

Thanks everyone! I'm contemplating either doing matt black wheels or gloss black with a polished lip.

oo7mech 04-18-2010 03:59 PM

I want those black and white wheels! Those are hot!

errett 04-21-2010 09:55 PM

Red on PG

3.5" wide with a 1" gap between hash marks

cow 04-21-2010 10:14 PM

Erret & DarkStar, I think the stripes look great (obviously).

cow 04-21-2010 10:16 PM

Here're two better pictures of my car with the stripes:

http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/x...literays/6.jpg

The red wheels are off the car for now-- having them refinished matte black barrels & gloss black lips to make them less ostentatious.

Darkstar87695 04-21-2010 11:57 PM

Are those photoshops or did you do it also? It really looks great, and i'd be happy to be one of the first of many!

Cow, yours look awesome! Thanks again for the idea. Can't thank you enough!

errett 04-22-2010 05:53 AM

Not a photoshop, mine is real. I called the company that handles the logos on our work trucks and told them what I wanted and went by for measurements last week and they put them on yesterday. Mine are only on the driver's side.

Cow - I am originally from Monroe. Family still lives in Monroe and S'port.

I agree, I think they look great on all our cars. Like I mentioned before, when I saw the title of the thread this was what popped in my head.

Darkstar87695 04-22-2010 06:54 AM

Good to hear! I think they turned out really well. I like the color choice on PG

fullmonty 04-22-2010 07:33 AM

The stripes look good guys!

cow 04-22-2010 07:05 PM

Thanks for the compliments, guys.

Ah cool. I'll be going to Monroe for the first time in years next weekend. I try to keep my Monroe exposure to a minimum lol.

I just moved here about two years ago (& it wasn't full time until about a year ago). I'm originally from the New Orleans area, but got moved here for the Haynesville Shale work, met a girl, blah blah. I'm trying to drag her with me to Houston, though.

bigdog1250 04-23-2010 02:40 AM

Can you please do a grey with black stripes... it would be sex. Who the F$%K said strips on a Z would look bad?

Darkstar87695 04-23-2010 06:51 AM

The idea was alittle ricey but once you get past not doing the classic muscle car stripes and incorporate the hood lines it looks really good! I also would like to see the black stripes on a PG. Its a definite track car possibility

Yeah, Monroe is not the same as it was when I grew up there. I get back once a year for Christmas and it is depressing driving around and seeing all the places that have closed.

Well said sir.

Darkstar87695 04-24-2010 03:47 PM

Went to the dealership today for an oil change and they loved them.

cow 04-25-2010 08:38 AM

When I first did mine, I was expecting negative reactions, but it's been overwhelmingly positive. A friend of mine even decided to put stripes on his 135I.

:iagree: That is exactly what I was thinking!

ADIYOZ 04-26-2010 01:37 AM

Don't do it on a Z. Don't mess up a perfectly beautiful vehicle. Racing stripes will just look tacky and it'll give it that ricer look. If you want to do it might as well two tone the car in green and purple and put 24's on it... JK, but yea don't do it. For the love of the Z community don't do it. It'll be equivalent to this status YouTube - 350z riced out... Not quite, but yea you get the picture. We have many who disagree the racing stripes and some who are for it. We should have a poll!!!

EDIT: Go for that Hella Flush look or go for that Time Attack look. Say NO to the fast and furious look!!!

Based on the pictures posted, I disagree with you completely.

Daymn, that looks sweet! Not sure about the red stripes tho...seems too flashy. I'm curious as to what colors would look good on the black Z *hint hint*

wishihadnav 04-26-2010 03:11 PM

^^probably a nice dark blue will look good on black...no stripes for me..i'll leave those to the zebras..haha

SophiaZ 04-26-2010 04:23 PM
