I think I get slightly better around town in the vette also, but the Z still isn't fully broken in either. I know the corvette kicks my wife's Z4's *** in city and highway mileage.

Another plus for a vette is that insurance is half of what the 370 insurance is, at least for me.

That's definitely a + for the Vette corner. Mine is a bunch higher too Mike.. To many high risk Young-uns driving Z's I guess....

Go back to selling suppositories, stick to what you know.:roflpuke2:

LOL.

I'm sure you are very well educated and very brilliant professional

Ok, now back to selling suppositories. They work great for constipation, in case you get it. Do you want me to tell you where to put it?

I meant efficiency as in power per litre of displacement, not mileage. Though I'm sure the z would get good mileage if you keep it in 6th gear all the time, which is what the vette does with tall gearing and two tall overdrives.

Yes the Vette gets amazing highway mileage. I've gotten 30 before on the highway. It's a good grand tourer.

Power per liter is one of the biggest ricer arguments known to man.

Either bring the big stick or go home. What line of motors can make 430-505 crank horsepower (LS3/LS7) in a stable manner, without having to worry about overheating on the track? Yeah, its not the little Nissan motor thats for sure.

Not only is it efficient (the head design on LSX motors is amazing), but it can take gobs of power and is extremely mod friendly, never mind reliable. Oh yeah, and how about cheap to fix and almost universally known in the mechanical world due to being the classic small-block design?

You argue your HP/liter all the day long - in the end, the LSX is a superior motor not only from a cost-to-repair and cost-to-mod standpoint, but from a racing standpoint.

For me, one of the Vettes strongest points usually isn't mentioned. It weighs about the same as the 370Z even with that bigassed engine. Weight is the enemy.

Yeah, why do Nissan, Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Mitsubishi, Mercedes, McLaren, etc... bother doing research and developing engines? They should all just buy engines from Chevrolet

Provided they don't go bankrupt first

That is actually something I agree on. Modern cars are just getting too overweight and fat. Lambos going close to 4000 lbs, 3 series bmw now bigger than older 5 series, mercedes sedans heavier than a pickup truck, etc....

Yeah, you're right, its not like the EcoTec is one of the best 4-cylinders on the road right now. How about the direct injection 3.6L V6 that's in the Camaro, which makes just slightly less HP than the 3.7L inside of our 370Z, but that one can run on 87 octane? Ohh...forgot, you're the engine tech in these parts :)

FULL DISCLOSURE: I used to recite the same nonsense about the Corvette as Pharmacist...verbatim. Prior to '02, I shared the same opinion on the Corvette overall and its owners. I, too, believed that the car did not handle/perform and was garbage overall. Then I suddenly grew up when I drove a 2001 Z06 in March of '02. I used to think the M3 and 911 were the pinnacle of world-class performance. Now, the roles are absolutely reversed...you could not pay me enough to drive an M3 or 911 (although my arguments as to why are actually valid, not juvenile nonsense).

His arguments are simply laughable, from HP/L to the lack of "european noblety" [sic] driving Corvettes...priceless. It's also funny how he's touting up the education-level of certain demographics, as everything from his sentence-structure/grammar to his overall closed-mindedness is not in line with anyone I know beyond a high-school education.

Let's keep this going, and let's keep it civil. This sort of entertainment rivals the best Vegas shows.

Seems the only one here lacking a high school education is you, since you don't know how to read properly. I never once mentioned that corvette drivers are uneducated, only that they tend to be either rednecks or middle aged men in a midlife crisis. They are not synonymous

You can't get paid enough to drive an M3 or 911? That says a lot about you. Enough said.

Why is anyone even bothering to argue with this goof?

Pharmacist, just :gtfo2:

Is this a bad time to ask what the posters here think of Mustangs?

Sheesh, sorry to stir the pot. I only asked the original question on this forum because a 370 is my front runner and this Corvette deal came outta nowhere for me. I really wanted some perspective, which I got...and more.

Thanks.

You didn't stir the pot. All you did was mention a car other than a 370Z. It's not your fault that some people are idiots and it's beyond their comprehension to talk about performance cars different from their own.

As for Mustangs, they're very nice cars. I took out a 2010 GT about 2 months ago and was very impressed overall with the car. It handled well (for a Mustang), was just about as quick as the Z, and the interior build quality was also light-years ahead of that found in 2005-2009 models.

My overall impression of the Mustang: One reason why Ford didn't need a bailout.

Go with the vette. I'm not their biggest fan but they're better than the mustang.

Actually, I'm talking about...you. You're not with "Stupid," you are "Stupid."

I think by now, you've pretty much lost the little bit of credibility you may have had. It's doubtful anyone will bother taking in your consideration on the subject of "Corvette vs. Mustang."
