The estimate came out to $6900. Holy cotton picking hell. I'd get the car back by early next week.

Best of luck.... -Clifford |
After 3 weeks and thousands of insurance dollars later, I finally got my car back from the shop. And yes, the other insurance company took liability
However, I now have a Service Engine light on. Looking at my dash, everything has been resetted (oil, filter, time, radio, etc). I'm wondering if the check engine light is actually linked to a problem or just something minor/misread. Is there a way I can check this issue by resetting the ECU or other procedure? |
That other stuff is minor, your trip computer was reset. Your ECU was probably reset at the same time as the trip computer, resetting it's not going to clear the DTC.
These days $20 will get you an OBD-II Bluetooth transmitter and you can install a cheap app like Torque on your smart phone / PC to read/clear the DTC. It's not a bad thing to have anyway, you can monitor your engine in real-time with just your cell phone if you go this route. |

Before I went in for the repair, I had to get an oil change. When I got my car back today, I asked the manager why the service engine light was on. He told me that the oil had to be changed (which is true) but I'm wondering why the service engine light is on. When the oil had to be changed before the repair, it was stated on the left LED monitor saying oil change has to be done WITHOUT the service light turned on. I'm confused

$20 will get you your own OBD scanner, but it doesn't sound like you'd use it more than once. If you still need that oil change, then you can kill two birds with one stone and avoid buying a device you'll never use again. |

If not then get a chick in a SMART car (squared and narrow). |

Hello OP,
At least you know who back up into you, I just had someone hit me with their hitch I assume and just left my Z was parked. Thankfully it seems that it was just the front bumper. I am sure the insurance will pay but just by looking at this it seems like a bout 3k in repairs. 1k for paint job and the rest for parts and labor. |
