Being Keyed

This is one of my biggest concerns! Jealous, weak minded people. Should be justifiable homicide. Help rid the world of vermin.
Good Luck

Most will deny or accept it but, IMO, the only drawback of having nice cars is that we always need to watch out where we park, watch out for jealous people, we get labeled as cocky or a$$h drivers, etc --- this makes us not enjoy the car fully especially when dining out, on a date, etc.

And yes, I do realize that a few don't really care about their cars and take the mentality of "it's just a friggin car. Drive it and enjoy it!"

Munts 11-24-2014 10:39 PM

So messed up how another person can do something like that to someone else's car... It would almost make it worth it for someone to do it so i could catch them in the act while they do it...

:iagree::shakes head::iagree: I knew this might be a problem when buying this car. I did not know this would be a every flocking day problem! The keyings, fools on the roads cutting you off, the jackasses that park right next to you in the supermarket lot 1 mile from the entrance. I just :shakes head::driving:
good luck with the repairs and remember a hater is going to hate no matter what.:shakes head:

:rofl2: I think about that line from Pulp Fiction every other month when i see a new key scratch in my paint. God give me strength if ever do catch a coward in the act!

SlowRollin 11-27-2014 11:06 AM

I nicked the garage on the way in last night and got white all over the driver side nose... this has been a rough month for me. Now I'm looking at a grand out of pocket... perhaps I should get the claim value instead and stash it towards a full repaint at a later date. The beauty of an aluminum car is you are not being rushed to avoid rust...

Maybe matte gray would suit my style better anyhow. Anyone recommended in Orlando area?

Tadpole 11-27-2014 10:27 PM

I got a 4 inch scratch right below my spoiler on the hatch. I know it was one of those jackasses at the car wash I went to and you know they won't accept responsibility for it either.

SlowRollin 12-07-2014 01:19 PM

Got my Z back and progressive matched the factory paint perfectly. It looks like I just drove it home all over again. I was renting a Ford Escape SE 4WD since that's all they had left due to the holiday season... I wouldn't trade for it but I did like the 4WD part (time to start saving for a GT-R).

Really glad to see that things worked out in the end. That was a real bummer of a situation.

Did you find a good job yet? That would be the real happy ending.

SlowRollin 12-08-2014 01:00 PM

Oh, well I half way did find another job. I am full time contracting and hoping to steer it into a permanent position next year.

Out of pocked on repairs was $1290. I had to pay for the garage nick on the nose, and there was a rock chip on the hood I wanted to fixed if I was going to go to all that trouble. Progressive covered all but $500 of re-painting all three side panels and replacing the door handle. Supposedly, if I get the sealant redone in a month they will reimburse me as well.

I agree with you. So much hate since owning the Z, its unreal. I guess living in rednecksville doesnt help me much.

I think I must invest in a beatup pickup with a confederation flag so that this mexican looking alien can blend in HAHAH!

In all honesty I thought the Mazdaspeed got me hate.. but the Z much MOAR. Plus I dont even drive it like a doosh. I stay in the right lane mostly doing the speed limit.

Only yesterday, I was merely driving in a two lane 55mph road and Sonata 2.0t pulled out in front me, I am glad he floored it as I would have gone right into his side. At stops lights it was an old man LOL. We had a friendly chat, no anger here anymore. I lost my spirit in regards to shouting and getting mad after marriage.

Feel your pain brother. Got keyed on my hood on my 2nd day of ownership inside my gated lot at WORK no less. 2014 red nismo.

Bought it Sunday and have only driven it from the dealer to my garage at home and to work Monday and Tuesday and ate lunch at Sonic both days. Came out for lunch today on Tuesday and saw 2 long light scratches on the hood and 1 deep twisting scratch.

Funny thing is I knew this would happen the first day I pulled in. I've owned an EVO X and an S2000 and those were scratched in similar ways. Evo X on the rear quarter panel and S2000 on the trunk but I never was sure if it happened at work or somewhere else. Now i know its at work, same person probably or group of people that are import haters. There are nicer cars at my work, new corvettes, hummers, bmw's so i dont think its a jealousy thing. I've had a mistubishi outlander sport and toyota celica and vw gti that have gone unscathed. Just a sporty import car hatred thing I think.

We have a camera but its pointed at the company vehicles in our lot so I think I'm SOL but I'm going to try to get the footage tomorrow morning regardless. Not holding out much hope though. Not even sure what Ill do if the camera did film where I was parked. Ask for 500 cash, if not report him to my companies HR? Doubt the police can do anything since its private property.

I was already planning on getting a beater car this weekend but didn't even make it past Tuesday without this happening sigh Should have known better. I almost blame myself.

Now just have to make it through the rest of the week without more damage until I can get that beater car this weekend.

Already regret getting the car. Too much negative attention. A shame it has to be like this. You really cant have anything outside the norm otherwise it's just a matter of time before something like this happens is my experience. Such a shame.

Cops can't do anything because it's private property!? If that's the case,if you find out who it is,whoop his azz right on the property.

jpkirk 04-22-2015 08:40 AM

I don't think private property has anything to do with it. It is malicious destruction of property. In Maryland, if the damage is greater than $500, you will face misdemeanor charges and be sentenced to up to 3 years in prison and fines of up to $2,500.

It is clearly an ongoing problem for the company. Should be dealt with.

have the guy on one of the cameras but the only one that had the angle was so far away its too blurry and we cant tell who it is just the build of the person and he was wearing either a white or gray shirt. We wear uniforms at my work and there are a lot of people with white shirts on any given day but I have a 90% suspicion who based on the time that it happened but I cant accuse him because its too blurry and small on the video and theres always the 10% chance im wrong. The lot manager who ran the video for me agreed and was also pissed that it was too blurry to do anything and when i said this footage is useless i cant accuse him with this blurry footage, he told me 'no sh!t'. he was pissed off for me which at least made me feel better.

if this was a regular job I didnt care about i could risk by retaliating in kind but its a career job and i cant risk it especially without being 100% sure.

a$$holes win again.

Park in front of the camera after you get it fixed. They will try it again.
