if i had a M4 i would just drive it stock. |
^nice! M3 reliable or not? I presume you left it stock. How many miles you got on it?
|
I love the e92 m3. Always wanted won and would get it over the Z if they miles were low and it was certified pre-owned. It has such an awesome appeal, smoother ride, luxurious interior if you're into that kind of stuff. The V8 sucks for gas but If I were considering that car then I wouldn't care about it. Exhaust note is amazing too.
You already had your Z for a few years which is a lot of time to enjoy it. If you have the money for the m3 then go for the m3. |

but i can say euro cars are a hit or miss. if you get a hit then problem free for many years and miles. |
If the CPO M3 is DCT then I say go for the M3. DCT's are the norm and they sound ridiculously sexy when shifting gears, especially with a nice exhaust.

we had to replace a gasket (known issue with 3 series that are aging) brakes and a gas cap. cost for the gas cap and gasket work where typical for the industry. brakes, done by bmw, expensive but other then that car was perfect and one of the if not the best driving car we have ever owned. The M4 have had it for a few months now, have 2800 miles on it. it is awesome, very quick and a head turner for sure. people actually chase my wife into stores to tell her how cool her car is. that wont happen with a stock Z its new so we have the service plan with it, so for the next 6 years its maint free. |
we almost bought a M3 convertible btw, a silver 2012, we test drove it, sounds amazing. but when the wife compared the two side by side she had to have the M4

I've driven the E92 and yes it's faster, smoother and the more sophisticated car all around. My problem is used. In my experience with owning a variety of different used cars, 50% were great & 50% were more trouble & expeses than they were worth.
Thank goodness as I've aged, so has my wisdom and assets, thus no more used car purchases for me. I'm willing to purchase a lesser car new, than an older, better performing car which has the potential of being a ticking time bomb of expenses. Both cars are great performers so good luck on your choice. By the way, I voted Nismo. |
Yea, Nismo.

I have raced 2 M4's in Mexico with my Z, I have nothing to fear:driving: |

I should mention I would much rather drive an M3 or M4 over a stock Z. but with the extra power and suspension work, my Z is a far more fun vehicle to drive

Legit m2 should be out next year...

Oops, my bad. Read it as 6 months not 6 years.

ouchie, just went to the BMW USA site, CPO warranty is for 6 years or 100,000 miles whichever comes first. Depending on original purchase date, you could be covered for awhile. This could make the E92 more attractive.

Yep. Attractive to keep it stock. |

knowing we will have this car for a long time we did the 6 years, got a great deal on it. now they keep calling me to buy the next build they have coming up. but im waiting for the C63AMG coupe to come out first. something about that twin turbo v8 has me excited! |

The Z and mustang are two different cars offering 2 different experiences. Imho you feel much more connected to a Z than a mustang. I think it's worth negotiating a Nismo. |
