Driftomodachi 09-29-2014 07:25 PM

Typical Nissan. They load up early model years but in the later model years they cheap out on features. The base model 97-98 240sx didn't even have a remote trunk release

Zerocool 09-29-2014 07:34 PM

lol way to make people spend more money.

Zerocool 09-29-2014 07:35 PM

surprised it still has power windows too

Tadpole 09-29-2014 08:01 PM

My 13 Z is a base with the paddles. I use them at the drag strip mostly and occasionally on the street to let the other car know I am ready to accelerate. I will leave it at that.
15 with no paddles? Odd. I bet you still get that crappy radio that is shared with all other nissan base models.

Funny you mention the crappy radio, actually the base 7AT I saw without the paddles had a new base stereo head unit with standard Bluetooth and extra phone buttons on the steering wheel. You can see that clearly in the picture above this post. Apparently Bluetooth > Paddle Shifters...

bruddahmanmatt 09-29-2014 10:12 PM

FWIW, the base model Z's don't have integrated turn signals in the Z emblems on the front fenders anymore.

^The 2015s come with something there... Whether it's a light... Not sure based on pics I see online.

The 2015 base wheels are the same as before except much darker. I like them

2015 Transmission: 7-Speed Automatic $1,300

No mention of paddles... Cheap bastards!!!

You guys notice how it says no mention of paddles or the downshift Rev matching....so does the 7AT base without paddles not blip Rev when downshifted??? Because mine does....

SouthArk370Z 09-30-2014 01:36 PM

I think the blip on 7AT downshift is more about protecting the tranny and not a performance feature. YMMV

i think it's great and does a great job on performance.

i beat the piss out of those paddles when on the dragon and it works just like any manual gearbox when downshifting into turns and using it for tranny braking.

i love the 7AT in the Z.

It will end when the Z35 is available... :)

But then it starts all over again! :D

kenchan 09-30-2014 03:31 PM

but you can still manually shift the base 7AT sequentially with the shifter, correct? :ugh: not that i care...

Limeybastard 09-30-2014 03:51 PM

I am curious what has changed in the suspension components on the base and sport seem to share the same now.

Even the Nissan CVT faux blips the throttle in manual mode. That won't change.

Look at the positive though... :tup:Sport tech is the biggest bang for buck in 370z history. So losing the paddles on a base isn't so bad.

Nissan, please bring back a more aggressive/ultra modern version of our 2009-2012 Z's in the next gen Z? Pleeeeaase!

I couldn't agree with you more, bruh!

fire165 09-30-2014 04:14 PM

^^Oh yeah.
Having the paddles is so much fun, I almost forget about my 350z 6speed manual.
Knowing the 2015 base, doesn't have paddles, I would not buy that model.

Will you also rehab my left knee??

Shotta 09-30-2014 04:37 PM

Nissan knows the performance driven buyers who want shift will just buy a manual transmission, none of that fake shifting with the paddles.:stirthepot:

So they are going to that system as well huh? Not that big a fan of it myself, and borderline pointless, since the average asshat doesn't use turn signals for anything, much less lane changing.

My new Dodge has that feature. I wouldn't describe it as "borderline pointless", I'd call it totally useless. I'm just starting to change lanes at the third blink.

See you at the drag strip and you will be :owned: by an auto. Just 3 little clicks and it's over. Lol

True auto is easier to go fast no doubt, but I would never drag my 370z. Road course, I'm in. I would get owned by an auto on a road course as we'll but for me there is something special about that direct connection to the power feeling you get with only a manual transmission. I do own 1 auto vehicle, and I feel like falling asleep at the wheel.

Benibiker 09-30-2014 08:34 PM

Truth be told I used my paddle shifters today for the first time and whoa, feels like I woke up a beast! I like it!!! :excited:

I agree, my Mazda 3 has it and it needs to be 5 blinks.

My Bad...

Wow, when I started this thread, I had no idea I'd be resurrecting the 7AT vs. Manual thread! I'll be more careful next time. :wtf2:

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.

Fanboy dribble that has been repeated here
xxx,xxx times.
There's pros and cons to each transmission. To each his own and at 160mph you aren't worried about the stick on the floor. You're worried about keeping your hands on the wheel and not smacking into the guard rails.

It's always fun to see how worked up both sides can get.

Tadpole 10-01-2014 06:18 AM

Well let's just say we are proud owners of our Z's and glad to poke a little fun at each other for the small differences with them. I do like answering the question everyone's asks me tho. "Why do you have an automatic in a sports car?" Technology has pretty much evened them out. I love the manuals as well but as I get older I have come to terms that it's easier and more fun to drive with automatic but I also realize that I have lost that feel of being one with the Z with the manual.

mishuko 10-01-2014 07:31 AM

Jacking time!!!!

So if we thought the base was bad with no paddle shifters the c300 for 2014 (without the tech packages) does NOT come with an automatic garage door opener. Atleast the base Z has an automatic garage door opener STANDARD!!!! I mean come on... last time I checked M-B c-series were the entry level luxury...

who cares what you chose... in 5 years or so i can see 99% of all the sports cars coming in auto with gtr-like dual clutch trannies and manual will probably be a relic. then we'll see less than 20% HP losses (~17 right now on our babies?) and losses that are closer to manual with improved efficiencies.

all i care about is... CAN I DRIVE SIDEWAYS AND BE COOL?

MadMan 10-01-2014 08:03 AM

Just seems like a waste of engine. Without the ability to shift when you choose, either manual or paddles, then the auto is never going to take you anywhere near the red line.
Again, what a waste.

My right and left legs are short, only if compared to the center one.
