my Grandfather loves the new Vette
|
LOL that's funny...
If you don't think a boosted Z with a driver that knows how to handle it can out run super cars, you should check out djtodd's video. You will see him run past a number of higher end performance cars. rdxo, you are comparing a $80k car with a $40K car. Without the upgrades the Z is always compared to those sports cars which are out of their league. I think that is high praise to say the least and it does get notice by those who drive cars that are twice the price of a Corvette. Hell I was chased down by a guy in Ferrari and to his surprise he could not out run me. Yup, it's not the car it's the driver and yes I've driven Corvettes, Porsches, BMWs and others. The bottom line is 500whp and torque is a lot not matter what form it comes in, but the real deal is how you handle it....straight line or esses!!! Love the one you're with.... |

FWIW I get killer pricing on the C7 and I plan to put a FI TT Kit on my 370. Now if a Z07 was in the picture, totally different ball game. I priced one out the other day at like 80K.

Very well, it's a shitload of car for the money. |
Jesus, 16 pages and this is still going on? And the OP hasn't responded since Page 1? You guys must be keeping this thread running because you're cold or something...

I have no loyalty to Chevy, and no longer have my boosted Z(I really do miss it), I loved the cars and still do, but I love everyone who bashing on the C7because you say its crap...the Z is nowhere near a perfectly engineered car and had and has many growing pains: just few to bring people back to earth:
Oil consumption on early models CSCs ECU whine Steering locks Fuel starvation High oil temps VLSD is TOTAL CRAP ABS/brake inconsistency… No car is perfect, but the C7 is a HELL of a deal, with the buyers discount you can get a z51 base in the high 50's...great well rounded sports car. Not to mention you can get superchargers INSTALLED AND TUNED for 5-6k...that puts you over 600whp. It is a better starting platform. There are plenty of other issues floating around, read all the sections on the forum... no car is perfect... with that said I would not hesitate to buy another Z, but I am hoping Nissan lightens this beast up and adds a few more stock ponies...one can dream. |
I'd rather not drive in a rolling sarcophagus. (I imagine this joke was probably already made in some form, but TLDR.)

Base high 50s on Vette. Base mid 20s on a Z. Makes sense that we are comparing them...

Go ahead and click that "new" checkbox on the side bossman. Unless you're in the business of buying other people's used toys.

New Nissan 370Zs for Sale in Metairie, LA 70005 - AutoTrader.com |
So what I'm seeing on your search there is one for 27.2k with about $1300 in fees not included in their sticker price, a few others in the 28k range and then mostly 29-31k+. I'm not sure of the point that you're trying to make here. I was just saying you're off by suggesting you can normally get a new Z for ~25k. The average price on a base is around ~30-31k. Your little search showing a dozen or so dealerships that are selling one for a couple thousand cheaper across a search of the entire country proves nothing.
Enough about this though, we're talking about why the vette is for the garage and the Z is for the road. |
