Intelligent key question..

Hi, on the 370Z, does the Nissan "intelligent key" have a feature where the doors automatically unlock when you walk close to the vehicle and lock when you walk away?

on my 370z, i have to manually lock and unlock by pressing the buttons on the key fob.. is that right?

sorry, n00b question. :tiphat:

yes i did try the search with no helpful results.

thanks for the help!

Well you can also press the button your driver's door handle to open the door when your key is in the vicinity.

Steven 09-28-2009 11:13 PM

omg im such an idiot.. never even noticed a button near the handle lol. thank you.

now what about locking it?

:iagree: You can press this button on the door handle to lock or unlock the car as long as you have the key in your pocket/purse/bookbag. Sorry, the Z keyfob DO NOT have the approach sensors.

That would've been a nice feature.

schrute 09-28-2009 11:29 PM

There is one auto feature, if you unlock from the keyfob (either on purpose or accidentally) then don't open the doors for a minute or two (not sure exactly how long) the car locks itself.

Nice little security feature.

To my knowledge, 370Z's don't offer this type of technology package. They probably offer it on the G35/G37, but that is more a luxury sports car as opposed to a strict sports car, as is the case with the 370Z.

BMW offers this type of technology package, know as "Comfort Access" although I believe that it adds $500.00 (MSRP) to the cost of the vehicle.

I don't have it on my Bimmer, but it would be nice to have, although some users complain that it doesn't always work, so some recommend against it. Also, additional connectivity items such as Comfort Access (read: Battery Gremlins) tend to eat up precious battery life.

That "feature" was accidentally triggered on my wife's pathfinder during a snowstorm last winter. I got to clean a huge snowdrift out of her car the next morning.

Good thing it was a "dry" snow :ugh:

nope not offrered on the G37 either. have to push the fob button or the door buton

It would be very easy to implement but I suspect there is a reason they didn't - just like being able to roll the windows down with the remote but not back up.
