This was, at some point, a skid plate (so a flat piece of sheet metal).

I'll let you gents make your own conclusions

And yes, the big red sticker says "FRAGILE, do not bend"

:shakes head:

Edit; Pix fixed

GaleForce 08-20-2014 08:00 PM

Links don't work for me. But I think I saw it on FB. Is this the "do not bend/fragile" package that looks like an accordion?

If so, my condolences.

SwissCheese 08-20-2014 08:45 PM

Yea, the links don't work for me either.

Rusty 08-20-2014 08:53 PM

linky no worky :shakes head:

Riptide67 08-20-2014 09:45 PM

If it's the fly1 skid plate, that **** is solid. I couldn't believe the pics when I saw them on fb.

KN21283 08-20-2014 10:57 PM

UPS....:shakes head: I think the shipper should've also packaged it better to prevent this from happening.

Packed it better? Its metal and marked fragile. The driver had to try to do this. Def not the shippers fault

I fail to see the issue.

But seriously, I hope you get resolution from that.

KN21283 08-20-2014 11:12 PM

Sheet metal can be easily kinked.

I agree, the packing sucked, just asking to get bent packed that way and guess what? It got bent.

cooltoy 08-21-2014 06:54 AM

How else would one pack a sheet of metal?

DjSquall 08-21-2014 07:52 AM

The only was if can see this happening accidentally is if the driver had to slam the brakes REALLY hard in order to avoid an accident, causing everything inside the truck to shift forward, crushing your package. (Pun intended)

But even in that case, the driver could have taken much better care and secured the cargo... Especially if there's fragile cargo.

big daddy 08-21-2014 09:15 AM

Lol, that's why they lose 2 billion dollars a quarter. :roflpuke2:

Only our government can run a business that loses 8 billion dollars a year and wonder why :stirthepot:

In a reinforced box, not just wrapping it in cardboard.

I doubt very seriously this was the drivers fault! I work for an LTL freight company and trust me, if you knew how this stuff got handled, before it even reaches the delivery truck, you would NEVER ship anything again. (I don't work for UPS btw) all of your packages get stuffed into a trailer by some guy who's getting a paycheck whether your package is in good condition or not. (keep in mind that not all of us that work for these types of companies are like that but 85% are).

Mt Tam I am 08-21-2014 10:05 AM

I assume another (flat metal piece) is now on it's way.

I pretty much posted the same thing on the OP's FB post. Well before he posted this here.. but lets all rage on the ups guy who deliberately broke this guys stuff. UPS dude probably drives a mustang... :stirthepot::roflpuke2:

Omg!

Cmike2780 08-21-2014 11:19 AM

Only a few guarantees when it comes to shipping packages via UPS and FedEx, one of them is that if a package is marked "fragile" it's going to end up as a piece of junk by the time it reaches you. Seriously though, stuff like this needs to be packed better. A more rigid box with some cardboard reinforcing would have saved it from abuse. The shipper got lazy and should have known this was coming. You can probably get reimbursed from UPS, but chances are, that too will be a headache. You also end up having to wait for another car part to arrive.

They used UPS, not USPS.

big daddy 08-21-2014 12:02 PM

Thanks for confirming that I AM an IDIOT

Hate it went my high school teachers were right :hello:

Spooler 08-21-2014 12:22 PM

This is a perfect example of some folks can break an anvil. In this case, a flat piece of sheetmetal. It is amazing.

ElwoodBlues 08-21-2014 07:47 PM

That fragile sticker is like a challenge to the shipping guys (UPS, FedEx, etc.) :icon17:

Kayzee 08-21-2014 07:50 PM

I'm glad to say that Fly1 (Lohit) took care of me with an instant over night air replacement, which is due to arrive tomorrow.

Both me and him did some yelling in the direction of UPS and he should be reimbursed for the lost product and extra expenses of getting it to me overnight.

All in all, hopefully there will be a happy ending.

Between sheets of plywood in a little thicker box. Yeah shipping goes up a little but guess what it won't bend and product arrives safely.

Shippers fault not UPS.

Codename067 08-22-2014 12:57 PM

Some of these workers for UPS truly hate their life and their job so they take it out on the people's merchandise. Good luck with any resolution though.

Now that I look at it, it does appear that someone deliberately bent the package. I can't see how it can bend that way in a truck.

Oh, and it's already been resolved. Fly1 sent him another one

njobe89 08-22-2014 01:55 PM

i don't get the people blaming the guy who shipped the product... he paid for a service and packaged it properly with a note saying fragile handle with care. Once you pay for the service and it is out of your hands you aren't responsible for it. If someone is going to throw your box around it doesn't matter how you have it packed. There were videos of ups/fedex/usps workers throwing boxes, so i guess those people didn't package something correctly too if it got broken. You're paying for a service, you need to get the service you paid for. i'm sure he didn't check a box that says "please throw/bend this package.

When i ordered my exhaust and intake from stillen, once it arrived i had to sign that the boxes weren't damaged.
