key hole delete

i don't know if this can be done, on my cousins infiniti g37 he removed the key hole cap with the passenger one to cover up the key hole. would i be able to remove the key hole door handle on the drivers side of the 370z and replace it with a passenger side door handle so there is no key hole on both sides

CCCLXXZ 09-23-2009 11:02 AM

Yes, works great! I just swapped the whole passenger side door to the drivers side... looks way better than the "key hole" ever did.

Another option would be to fill it up with epoxy to block it off.

mbz 09-23-2009 11:15 AM

is there a diy on how to remove the door handle and how much does a passenger side door handle cost?

Chupacabra 09-23-2009 12:16 PM

my I ask the stupid question.]

what keyhole??? is there even a key with the car?

B1nks 09-23-2009 01:42 PM

rofl @ this.

nogoodname 09-23-2009 02:07 PM

keyhole delete is only for G's and not for Z's.... that's it... simple.

GonGo 09-23-2009 02:32 PM

You could just look for the JDM left door handle.

but if your battery dies out on smartkey you would be stuck.

keyhole works in the event of battery failiure, the keyfob will work when inserted in the socket (who has ever tried this?) {not, its not a keyfob battery charger}

nogoodname 09-23-2009 02:34 PM

the car will notify you when the battery is getting low on the keyless

shumby 09-23-2009 02:36 PM

I have yet to have that issue with no key hold and battery going dead.

nogoodname 09-23-2009 02:39 PM

i would so get the JDM left door handle, awesome idea

shumby 09-23-2009 02:40 PM

Not a bad idea at all

nogoodname 09-23-2009 02:40 PM

keyholes are so played out

GonGo 09-23-2009 02:51 PM

This would look awesome...

But I just don't trust technology that much...

and it is my line of work.

Imagine you accidentally get the keyfob wet... I don't think its water-proof... Lithium Battery would probably die... and stuck out of an really cool looking key-fob less car :)

shumby 09-23-2009 02:54 PM

I have put my fob through the washer/dryer. non issue still works

mbz 09-23-2009 04:04 PM

does anyone know how to remove the door handle or have pictures?

bigaudiofanat 09-23-2009 04:54 PM

I would advise against removing the key hole. Just how I look at it but what if your FOB battery goes dead how are you going to get in the car, without a keyhole to put the key?

Cjanik 09-24-2009 12:25 AM

how many people would ever notice you did a keyhole delete or JDM left door handle swap? I personally had to go check my car after reading that it even had a key hole because its so unnoticeable as it is.

I know, some people just like this kind of stuff, i just wanted to voice my opinion on why I think it may not be worth the effort.

Trips 09-24-2009 01:49 AM

Go for it and carry this to get in.

I had to do the same thing. and i do have a keyhole... my question now is did everyone get a set of keys with their car? all I got was two of the FOB things.

Cjanik 09-24-2009 08:05 AM

the key is in the fob ;)

Do you believe that anyone (besides you) who happens to ever lay eyes on your car in any way, shape or form really even notices or cares if your car (or any car in the world for that matter) has a key hole or not?

CCCLXXZ 09-26-2009 11:23 AM

:icon18:

This was a mockery, getting rid of the key-in option is a horrible idea. Sorry you didn't read my sarcasm.

haha hating on the guys that just want to stand out sooooooo bad!:rofl2:

But on a side note, I think the key hole covers are a good look. You are given plenty of time to replace your fob battery once it lets you know that its running low on juice, so I don't see the "being locked out of your car" reason to be valid. This is just a cheap alternative to giving your Z that "unique" look. Since I'm on the topic... anyone know of a site that actually sells decent ones that fit/look good on the Z?

$hit happens. You cannot assume anything in an emergency situation, so I would caution against removing the keyhole entirely. If I did this, I would just buy a pair of JDM handles and have the passenger door be the one with the keyhole (assuming you could even make that work with a US model).

I can't say I have seen a keyhole cover on the market for a 370Z. I know they have them for the G's.

zae757 05-11-2015 06:02 PM

Umm yea my key fob died on me today and if I wouldn't of had a place to unlock the car, I would have been between a rock and a hard place. Keep it imo because you never know when you'll need it...

yeahhhh Thread Throwback :roflpuke2:

Driftomodachi 05-13-2015 10:44 AM

Great way to ensure you can't get into your locked car if your remote batteries die. I'll never understand wannabe do it yourself "engineers" trying to mess with what's not broken

Running4Mayor 05-13-2015 10:55 AM

I thought this was a for sale thread :wtf2:

wulfgvng 05-13-2015 05:44 PM
