Not sure what to do. HELP!

Hi guys. I just recently noticed something off about my Z. The right side hatch seems to have a gap. It might be difficult to see through the pictures but believe me its there. Is this something normal? Can i fix this myself or should the dealer fix this? Any input would be greatly appreciated. And if this is a topic already covered then i apologize. I couldn't find anything.

Did you install new struts for the hatch?
Nvm, ur car a 2014... take it to the dealer |
no new struts. Just bought the car new less than a month ago

My car has had the same thing since day 1. Welcome to Nissan!
The paint sucks balls too, might wanna clear bra it... Like today... |
i remember someone said something about adjusting the striker so something... cant remember the thread. but it wasnt uneven like that L/R, it was more like the hatch didnt seem to close all the way. anyone remember that thread?
i would take the car to the dealer since you're probably still well within warranty. |
i would also check if the rubber springs are even.

Since it looks you bought your Z very recently, wait for a month or two and see if there's any other warranty work that needs to be taken care of, and then just take it back to the dealer and let them take care of everything at the same time.

There should be a round stop on each side that you can turn to adjust in and out. Looks like the one on the right is out further than the one on the left. I know the stops are there, I'm just guessing they are adjustable.

Nevermind what I posted. There are 2 rubber stops and 2 spring stops, but they aren't adjustable. I just recall seeing them and thought they might be adjustable. They aren't.

I bought mine with 1500 miles on it, was a 2014. I was very suspect that the rear was repaired as tail gate on mine sits slightly over the left side of the fender more than the right side ( gaps relatively even) . Also, the gap between the inside rear tailight to bumpers do not match symetrically. Another one, looking at the rear tailgate glass, the driver side appears to have a slightly bigger gap compared to the passanger side. The gap on the metal panel to roof trim is fine, but the glass seems to be a little off! I found no evidence of paint work, and I used to be in the body shop business so know what to look for. I believe this is how they go out sometimes. Personally I wouldnt bother using warranty to get this fixed, you will end up probably with a car that looks like it was repainted. They will have to adjust the nuts and the paint will come off and not look original again. PS I will try and take some pics at same angle as yours and post. |
