one thing i see wrong with the current deal you got with that dealer is if they arent willing to come off msrp then they arent worth messing with...
FuszNissan is less than 4 hours from you and he will do better... another good thing to get out of going to St L is making a day trip out of it, taking the wifey site seeing, and light lunch or early dinner then head back home...or better yet spend the night in a 4 star hotel over looking the city...if your ole lady is into that sort of thing...helps her feel better about the whole deal too... |
Thanks for the help
The car is the base model with, I believe the sport package or whatever they call the cosmetic package with air dam or wing across the back. In Jackson County Missouri, I believe the sales tax is 7.35%. The car has no other extras. It has an MSRP slightly above 29K but they want 31K. Now, if they won't come down, do I walk and wait? What I don't like is the idea of losing the car may make me jump when I should wait. You folks are doing me a great service and I really appreciate it. I have been a Mazda man for years, six Rx7s in all and am ready to make the jump. They tried to sell me a 2008 Rx8 much cheaper and then an Altima coupe. I want the Z.

Wow, what a story. I read every post and decided to have a non-confrontational talk with my wife. I told her I had decided it was my decision and she was going to have to live with it. Her concern was that I am 54 and she is 50. This is my second (and last) marriage and we have two wonderful kids, a girl who is 11 and a boy who is 7. She is worried about us taking on more years of debt getting older and having such young children. She knows that as a teacher, I can't last forever. I pointed out that if I retired in 5 years, the SUV would be 8 years old. I will probably go 6 to 11 more years. Somewhere along the way, I'd have to get a new car anyway and the SUV depreciates each year. My SUV is in like new pristine condition, metallic red and loaded.

Wow, that is what I didn't want to read but needed to read. Walk away. When I saw that red car, I had to have it. I didn't tell them this. But when they started the "Let me go back and talk with the manager" and "I tried to get him down but he won't budge" routine, I knew I was being jerked around. Too bad. I will check out Fuz Nissan. As an aside, the salesman was so young I wondered if he was old enough to drive. He was a thin high energy type, on the phone talking with his lawyer because he put "earnest" money down on a house and the realtor wanted to keep it, and telling me he was going to take the money and go on a vacation to Germany. The Internet sales guy was very low key, soft spoken, but gave me the same "Let me talk to the manager" routine.

Assuming you were looking at a Base+aero, the MSRP would be about 30,600...invoice would be 28,500. add in the 5k you still owe on the pathfinder and subtract the rx7 and you should be about 32,500-33,000+tt&l. Don't pay a cent over that!
Fusz is a Z enthusiast and a good guy. He knows the business and will do anything he can to help a fellow Z enthusiast out with a purchase. I think you will find your experience with him is 10x better than a random dealership. |

Thanks a million. I had the terms wrong. Maybe its because I am beat from fighting some kind of sinus deal. Anyway, it is McCarthy Nissan in Blue Springs Missouri, it is the base model with the spoiler. No other options (kind of a cheap radio too), six speed, and fast. The color is red and interior charcoal? Thanks for the help. I sure wish I had the car.

I am going to owe all of you big time. The sales guy was saying 35K which is 2 grand more than you came up with. They also said 8.3% on the loan. I wonder how much difference it would make on the payment if they lowered the price by 2 grand, maybe $25?
I went on the Fusz website. They have Z's but the cheapest one starts at 32K and they go up from there. How willing are they to "deal?" |
