I'd drive one of these as my DD if the price was right (I'm sure it won't be)

i rented the new sentra in toronto a couple of weeks back on a biz trip.
honestly it wasn't bad!

it drove like a much larger car, was stable on the expressway too... drove it through
sunny to raining frikken cats and dogs and taffyapples that day. :ugh: car did well.

only thing i didnt like was that it was one of the cheaper trims so limited accessories.
but it's a rental so cant ask for much. and cvt sucksarse.

This is the way I see it...You could save money on buying a base or Sports/Touring Package and spend that extra money modding the Z the way you want with new Intakes, Exhaust, Suspension, Bumpers, Side Skirts, Fenders, Ground Kits Etc....You could even buy a base and convert it to a Nismo but at the end of the day it will never be a NISMO or outdo a Nismo...Its almost like buying a base model Civic Hatch or Integra and converting it to a Type R....At the end of the day it will never be a True Type R. The bottom line is that the Nismo is in a totally different class all by itself no matter how you look at it...It's factory made directly from Nissan giving it that true authenticity

The Nismo IMHO is for the true enthusiast who wants to have a NISMO.

I'll accept that my car will never be a Nismo, because it lacks the official number plate, but please define "outdo." Because anyone here with an exhaust, HFCs, and tune is probably already outdoing a Nismo, by my standards.

yah, im an ethusiast that never really cared for the nismo's shape.
if having a nismo is that special to you, that's great. but this thing about
'true authenticity' status is really just in your head.

there are parts out there that will easily make a base better than a factory built car.
that you must accept.

Lol....Call it Kool Aid...Call it Tang...Not everyone would see it the way I do....that's why its an Opinion.....and like an @SShole...everyone has one. :tiphat:

That in itself says a lot...because your standards are probably different from everyone else's.....but for the sake of discussion your point isn't necessarily true...I have an exhaust and HFC's on my Nismo and I've outran Base and Sports models at the track that have full bolt-ons and a tune....Then again that could all be contributed to driver skills which is a totally different topic....

Don't get me wrong...there are a lot of beautiful Z's out there that were converted from base/sports models.....My good friend SIMOTA is one of them out here on the island....Some may argue that there are other Z's out there that look better or might even outperform the Nismo...but it's still not an authentic Nismo....Compare the blue books and that's where you'll see the difference.

I have to disagree about the whole "in my head thing." The Nismo is a model...I like the Nismo that I have...I don't care for the new one...others do...some old Nismo owners call the new Nismo model an upgraded Sports/Touring....but it's still a Nismo....

Your argument that there are parts out there that will easily make a base better than a factory car....I agree...I accept that you can build a car to out perform a factory one....but my argument is that it's still not a Nismo. You could also turn around and build a factory Nismo to outperform other Nismo's or Base or Sports/Sports-Touring package Z's....

For clarification...When I posted "True Enthusiasts" I was referring to those into the "Nismo" model/brand....there is no doubt that we are all enthusiast of the Z here....that's why we either owned or own one.

Just like the 40th Anniversary you could take a base model and make it look exactly like a 40th Anniversary...buy the chairs, emblems, match the paint, Rims, but when it's all said and done it's simply just a replica.....the true authenticity isn't there it won't and will never be a 40th Anniversary Z. The truth will come out when you run the VIN.

I'm not downgrading the other models...or saying that the Nismo is better than the other models...What I'm stating is that it is what it is...A Nismo....It's obvious that the Z's come in different models in order to match different styles, budgets, and needs of the drivers or potential owners....If that wasn't the case then all Z's would come in one model....

Im no Nismo hater, actually I do like them. However, the authenticity label looks like it has been removed by Nissan themselves, they are putting the Nismo badge and authenticity as we can see on all their rides now. Shame really..

Dude, don't even waste your breath. The whole "Nismo vs base" and "you spent 10k on a body kit" has been going on since the 350z Nismo came out. Go onto My350z and you'll see the same old BS threads. I guess its a hard concept to understand that most bought a Nismo because its a little more rare/unique to the standard Z, plus IMO it looks awesome! I REALLY thought the extra 18 HP was going to be sooooooooo much faster than a base . Be happy with what you bought.

We get ragged on about spending the extra money for a Nismo on here, but you'll see on other car forums they laugh at Z owners in general because they feel the performance of a 370z doesn't match its price tag. So we all get bashed in some form or another.

I guess Nissan didn't learn from Chevy when they said they were going to stop making everything into an "SS".

true!!! thats the reason why i get a 370z Sport Package an not Nismo.... Price and for me same sh!t with out a bodykit.... im are the type of person that always want to make the car different... and trust me i love the Nismo front facia and i want it.... but i can tell you that if i put one on my Z now maybe next year im going to sell it for buy another front end... That was the second reason cause i dont buy the Nismo... If you tell me that the Nismo comes with another engine, or comes turbo or sc with 50 hp from the factory like the Subaru WRX and the STI (they have a lot of different things) i buy the Nismo and not the sport package... but for a bodykit and a badge with numbers.... no thanks!!!

Im not a Nismo hate..... im just have to be honest...

carlitos_370z 07-29-2014 12:31 PM

Nismo brand have to make something..... in looks they are doing good... but in performance they have a lot of work... excluding of course the Nismo GTR hahaha!!! they make a great work on that car
