Be careful when driving, you are going to get tempted to "show off" but hold back. I have a very simple rule also, when others are in the car I do not speed, quick turns, etc.

You're one lucky kid. I suppose you already know about the poor rear visibility. Take extra care when changing lanes. Also consider taking a defensive driving lesson (not racing lessons) and get really comfortable with the car in traffic. Understand the risk of driving a nice car that gets attention. I had one vehicle keyed before by some idiot. And keep reading the forums to increase your knowledge. Jeez, I sound like a responsible adult.

no need to race another car to show b/c chances are those will be civic messin with you..

rule is, no need to speed when you know the car is plenty fast enough

What happened in basic? You obviously didn't go further.

Most importantly congratulations for getting accepted to an excellent school. If I had a kid and I could afford it I'd get him a silly car also, so good on your parents for giving you the things you want and deserve.

Three things that will get you through college with your life and your car.

1. No matter how 'straight' you feel, never ever drive the car after you've been drinking. Not even after a sip, better safe than sorry.

2. The car looks fast, magazines say the car is fast, you aren't doing anyone any favors by trying to prove anybody right or wrong. Besides if you're going too fast the girls can't see you flossin'

3. Don't let anyone drive your car, as close as you may feel to the people you associate with in college, no one is that close of a friend. You don't know him/her regardless of how many "I love you man's" or "we're totally gonna graduate and get a place together and be friends forever" you share after a bender.

Other than that, demonstrate the same intelligence and responsibility that got you into BC and you should be just fine. Congrats again!

Congratulations pana... get some all season performance tires.
And don't take off vdc/tcs controls. Don't shift over 4500rpm or do anything outrageous for at least 7k miles. Get a feel for the car. Become one with it. Never drink n drive. Treat it like a loaded weapon. Just once u kno ur car. Kno wen its safe to pull the trigger. :)

GO NOLES!!! Always hated playing BC....

Congrats on BC, no alcohol while driving, drive slow... so the ladies can see the killer ride, and post some pic's.

That's a lot of power for a 17yro to handle no offense. You'll get the adrenaline for speed and you'll love it because 300hp+ car isn't no ******* joke. That's like hopping on a 1000c bike before starting out on a dirt bike or 250c.

Good luck and be careful because a lot of people have accidents with their first car.

Lope,

Treat the ol' girl well and she'll treat in kind.

Drive in the snow as little as possible, both because of the wide tires (slippery) and the road "salt". Every summer when you drive back to your parents, consider getting the car up on some jack stands and give the undercarriage a thorough cleaning... get rid of any salt deposits, spray all rubber boots with some silicone spray, etc. If possible, remove all movable joints (suspension bolts and the like) and add some never-seize to everything. I spent many thousands of dollars replacing components that had frozen on my S2000 after using it as a daily driver while in Boston.

Do not use automatic car washes... better to leave the ol' girl dirty for a few months than let a wrecking machine tear up the paint job with high-pressure water and stiff brushes.

If you go down town, pay the extra money and park in a garage... parking on the street is a sure way to come back to scraped bumpers (expect double and triple parking).

Expect potholes the size of Atlanta, particularly down town... 19" rims are easily bent at 0.5 mph :( Do not count on being able to lower it with coilovers and still drive more than five feet (at least if you want to keep your bumpers).

Enjoy!

Congrats on the car and especially on being an Eagle!! That took hard work and determination. Take care of the car. Take care of your school work. Use the "T" when it snows!
