Curb/pothole? Sidewalls take a lot of stress and even a little bit of missing sidewall can cause a failure over time. Might have even been a tire bubble that just popped. Either way the only thing for sure is you need a new tire =P

No sarcasm here. To pull over the second the sensor goes off is not happening. Watch and wait. If I hit a pothole I am not heading directly to an alignment shop either, unless I felt something amiss.

ive actually seen a tires sidewall blow out so smooth it looked like it was done by a surgeon. the hole was 3 or 4 inches long and about 2 inches wide. unreal. driver said it was a pothole.
