lol guess its not really an issue if everyone else has it. better question is anything i could do to get rid of it i.e short shifter or maybe something else

LostSol 04-04-2014 07:34 AM

Heavier shift knob. Short shifter will make the vibration worse.

Haboob 04-04-2014 08:37 AM

I don't mind it at all. I actually like it. It's like I'm in tune with the car, I can feel its emotion. Caress it. Then shift it. :wtf2:

Install booby ball shift knob. Vibration becomes a bonus feature rather than a nuisance.

:iagree: My TWM Desert Eagle reduced the vibration slightly. Then when I installed the TWM short shifter it increased slightly.

kenchan 04-04-2014 03:51 PM

i suppose it vibrates a little, but it hasn't bothered me.

i run twm biggie type-r knob on my Z. check my albums page for picts. lol

Codename067 04-04-2014 09:07 PM

Call me weird but I somewhat like the vibration (no homo lol)

ZackMorris 04-07-2014 06:35 AM

after a rough last few days coming in to work monday morning and seeing that weird looking tit shifter made my day. I feel like im getting more used to the car now after a week and the vibrations are growing on me.

Haboob 04-07-2014 07:57 AM

Yeah, it's no big deal. I kind of like it. It's a more "raw" feeling, IMO.

Only touch the knob when actively shifting.

DR_ 04-07-2014 11:10 AM

This reduces movement a lot.

Mount the tranny so your knob doesn't wiggle?

i rest my hand next to it since theres really no elbow rest between seats but i try not to leave my hand on it. just like taking my left foot and keeping it flat on the floor when im on the highway in 6th usually would rest my foot on it in my civic

The lack of arm rest in this car annoys me. Why is the e-brake on the left side of the console? WHY?! The passenger does NOT deserve an armrest more than I do.

Actually, I do know why it is, because you couldn't shift with a drink in the onegoddamncupholder if it were switched around.

In the end. Poor design. /rant.

The one cup holder complaint I get. My arm rest is the center console - the passenger doesn't get one. Or drive with two hands cause racecar :driving:

If my arm is on the center console, it's an odd feeling/difficult almost to shift. My arm rests on the e-brake, because that's where the armrest should be. :p

If I'm shifting, my arm isn't resting on anything. If my arm is resting, it sits comfortably on the lid of the center console, although I occasionally open the lid on accident.

FWIW, this is the first car I've ever owned where I felt more comfortable driving with both hands on the steering wheel.

Ah, see, sometimes I'll shift with my arm resting on the e-brake (lazy shifting in traffic and such).

Also, the seatbelt buckle bugs me, if I turn the wheel racecar style (:icon17:), my elbow hits it and the belt. If I move it, it bothers my arm when shifting.

I can't win. I'm going to sell it.

Haboob 04-07-2014 01:51 PM

And yes, two hands is almost a must. Every little line, rut, painted lines on the road jerks the damn thing.

Though, sometimes I just do it one handed (you know what I mean)... I'm surprised I haven't been pulled over for suspicion of DUI at some points on the freeway where it grabs the car.

As much as I have wanted to, I have managed to resist the temptation to jerk off while driving the car :eekdance:

I think you took the "you know what I mean" in the wrong direction.

I think this is the only valid reason to drive an auto trans.

OEM Potenza's jerked me all over the road, it was crazy! DSW's don't do that although they don't feel as good handling wise as the Potenza's did.

I rest my hand either on the steering wheel or shift-knob... thus no need an arm rest...

what I would like, however, is a little holder that can hold my bluetooth headset. :icon17:

Never thought about the arm rest as an issue until you brought it up. So on my drive home, I paid attention to this. Similar to you, I place my elbow on soft part of center console and then wrist/hand rests on top of e-brake.

It actually works okay, as the top of the e-brake is flat and it's level with the center console. Maybe a simple mod of attaching a thin/flat soft piece of material on the e-brake would make it feel more like a real arm rest.

ZackMorris 04-09-2014 12:30 PM

honestly no room for anything in this car its insane. the person before me put an after market radio in so the 2" empty space thats left is where i try to store things(wallet, phone, work phone? and then on a nice quick pull from a light everything comes flying out back at me. also the center console has no room why would there be another cup holder in there to store a backup drink when im just relaxin in the car and not driving?(cus it would be stupid to drive with that open i.e no halfa** armrest anymore) and the outlet under the insert in the center console just doesnt make sense to me......

i love the car and have had one compliment everyday(atleast) since i got it last monday

Haboob 04-09-2014 12:38 PM

So, they didn't put a 2DIN headunit in? I'm assuming that you have the touring w/nav, because I have a nice cubby hold up where the nav. would go that I store my garage door opener and work badge in.

-The cup holder holds my phone.

-The power outlet in the center console makes sense to me, and there's an opening for a charging cable too.

I think there could be another cup holder behind the center console door, or just move the storage space to the back (bunch of wasted space on the console) and put another there or something.

I don't get that many compliments on it from strangers. :(

I shouldn't care, but it's nice sometimes to get those random compliments.

2011_6Spd 04-10-2014 07:40 PM

Man you guys are harsh on the poor Z. The only thing I don't like is when I actually use the cupholder my elbow hits the bottle/drink while shifting. Other than that the center console area works great as an armrest. My prior acura rsx-s had no center console at all to act as an arm rest. The only drink authorized in my car is water anyway so not really a big deal.
