What inspired the mods on your car?

Hi guys, Just wanting to get a general idea on what inspired the mods in your car or whats the general story behind the mods :hello:

Grindkiezer 04-02-2014 05:53 PM

Thought it would look good

DavidZ370 04-02-2014 05:57 PM

Alexthegreat 04-02-2014 06:11 PM

i had a real simple theme in mind changing just enough to make my Z mine. :D

like simple exhaust to make it sound like my car, simple visual mods, one simple suspension mod that i thought was missing from the car in stock form.
car runs great on street. wouldnt have it any other way. fast but not too fast, loud but not too loud, sporty looking but just enough to make a slight difference. very subtle mods.

I had to have an oil cooler to go home on a warm day.

I hated the drone of the exhaust after 30 minutes.

It sounded like I was riding on balloons so I changed out the tires.

The coil overs and sway bars are just to get a bit more out a fine car. I got a better ride while still getting handling gains.

The intakes were just for wasting gas as I like the sound coupled with the CBE.

The brake fluid upgrade was simply because I didn't like the way the pedal went all the way to the floor then pump up.

I'm still working on a brake upgrade, we will soon have a report.

Thanks for asking. :tiphat:

I do the mod game because I love it!!!
There is nothing better than looking at your car that you made a little different than the others:tup:

lol!!!

Think the last pair I purchased were the aqua 8's.

kfull 04-02-2014 08:17 PM

There aren't many mods that improve looks, sound, and performance all in 1, so a high quality CBE was a no brainer for me. As for window tint, I just wanted to be able to pick my nose in peace:icon17:

You gotta flick it somewhere lol

Masterbeatty 04-02-2014 09:49 PM

Because I wanted a fun track/ autox car that performed better than stock. It also calms me down and I am in a world of peace when working on cars as a hobby.

Your mods aren't even real...

edconline 04-02-2014 10:36 PM

Looks played a large part, as did function/performance. Although in the reverse order, because Function>Form, it's science.

As far as what guided the specific parts I bought when I decided to change something, that was 100% this forum!

zae757 04-02-2014 11:07 PM

...I saw another Z and it sounded, looked, and performed better than mine. Also, I like being different than the Z's I do see from time to time...

axmea? 04-03-2014 12:57 AM

This forum was a big influence.
Going to meets was a big influence. I asked myself why change up my sport rays? they looked good. Until I saw a bunch of 370's and 350's with great looking wheels when I went to Cerritos.
But what truly inspired me to mod the Z goes back to my childhood. All my matchbox and hotwheels toys were tinted and had blacked out wheels using my dad's markers.

Jordo! 04-03-2014 01:46 AM

Always want more power, better braking, and better handling.

Zteve 04-03-2014 06:31 AM

looks- keeping stock because all the kits for this car look like crap
just did the basics like the stereo becuase OEM is crap, drop in filters + post MAF tubes, and the only other mod i plan is FI exhaust.
once the tires wear out i will upgrade those to better ones same with brake pads.

TheGreatOne 04-03-2014 06:43 AM

I've always liked Carbon Fiber and its a great contrast with the color of the 40th Anniversary, so thats partly why I have many CF pieces.

Outside of that, in terms of members, Nitrouz was a big inspiration. I didn't want to do exactly what he did and didn't but he had his 40th set up very nicely.

Everything else, just tried to do right by the Z and get the best parts to make it more aggressive but also just keep it clean and classy.

Solomatrix 04-03-2014 06:46 AM

fast & furious

JWillis72 04-03-2014 08:19 AM

I've been broke since the first time I decided to track the car.

Austonian 04-03-2014 10:26 AM

whatever i could afford, whenever I could get it.

Seeing overly done or hacked cars inspired my mods and list of mods to do. I like discrete. So as you can see my mods in my signature are pretty discrete. I want the extra power, without having an overly loud car or a car that appears to be modified. Right now I can tell pretty much anyone my car is 100% stock and they wouldnt know the difference. Other discrete mods on my list to do are Pulleys, UpRev Tune, 4.08 gears and a lightened flywheel and some rear window tint. With practice I hope to be able to run a 12.6.. in my "stock 370" ;)

Shadezz 04-03-2014 11:10 AM

I wanted a OEM Black Edition 370z Touring/Sport, but they didn't make it like the GTR's...so I kitted a OEM Nissan Z34 S-tune front lip, side skirts, and rear spats...along with blacking out the wheels, tint, stereo..... I've been extremely happy with the results thus far...and yeah I like the OEM fitment of the kit...Was designed and made for the car by Nissan.

Z1NONLY 04-03-2014 11:37 AM

I started tracking my Z. As my driving improved, the things I needed to change became clear, one by one.

9 years later, I have yet to add any power.

Finally got a car worth putting money into

To make the car mine, to learn new things about the car, to learn by wrenching, and to have fun doing the work then reaping the rewards when I drive it.

Check out the pics of my car I posted 4/2/14 in my album

Mitco39 04-03-2014 12:07 PM

I found out I was living in the same city as Sasha. Went from 100% stock to his Boosted Performance kit in the span of like 2 months. He needed a car and I wanted power. haha

SOUTHZZ 04-03-2014 12:24 PM

I owned a 350 previous to the 370.My plan on the 350 and,doing same
on the 370 is to give the car a supercar look.Makes like McClaren,Ferrari,Lambo etc
have been influences.I've added quite a bit of carbon fiber. Some custom parts like
door jamb covers.Everything I've done has been to improve the looks of the car.
I've worked with ZCF.As Z owners themseves,ZCF has been fantastic.

damian_mb 04-03-2014 12:31 PM

none..I mod because I can :P

First world problems

falconfixer 04-03-2014 12:42 PM

I had a grand laying around so I asked the wife if I could get coked out for the weekend. She said no. So I bought a used FI exhaust from a forum member.

b15 04-03-2014 12:56 PM

When it comes to the exterior, I have the same formula for all my cars. I like to keep it subtle.
-Lower (more flush) stance
-Nice wheels
-Front lip/side skirts
-Tinted windows

When it comes to performance, it's car dependent. For the Z, I would like to go FI next year, so I'm limiting money spent on mods unless they can also support FI. I don't want to go full race car either. I want a nice street car with about 450-500whp.

Guy who is painting my front bumper and skirts said I told him the same thing when I bought mine. Coilovers, suspension and brakes and some bodyparts later i "think" I'm done, but it's doubtful.

Damn the370z.com, damn you all to hell!!!!! (In my best Charlton Heston voice) :rofl2:

Everybody has their own creative imagination. To me, modifying your car is like art. You have a vision and the car is your canvas. Paint away.

Haboob 04-04-2014 08:35 AM

OEM exhaust is too quiet.

OEM Rays - Whilst they look great, every '13 has them, so I am changing it up a bit.
