Hybrid z35

Nissan and Daimler Reportedly Set Up Mexican Joint Venture to Build Next-Gen GLA, Infinitis - Carscoops

Ive come across a couple articles the last few days about this, and Im fairly confident there will be at least two versions of the Z35, one being a hybrid.

If the hybrid is used correctly, we should all be on board. They're not turning it into a Prius. If they use the system to give it more torque under 4k rpm, is that a bad thing?

Hell no!!! I for one am excited to see it go that route. Performance will be better than a 370z while getting a REAL 30 MPG.

No, I'm teasing.

Recent work has shown that a hybrid can produce a lot of power. And adding weight to the back would make an interesting change to handling.

Yeah, but there's going to be a bunch of people chiming in with hybrid hate. I love the idea, but I'll reserve judgement on the execution. Instant torque at all rpm from an electric motor? Yes please.

One of those is from 2010 so a bit out of date, and the partnership with Mercedes seems to be more for Infiniti which is completely different.

Perhaps 911 like? Maybe...certainly not old 991 911 snap over-steer, but maybe 997 or new 991. All that weight in the back plus under-steer with front....sounds really interesting.

which one? I filtered by date, "past month".

ehhhh feck, i see it now. Forget it...nothing to see here, move along, move along.

theDreamer 03-25-2014 10:48 AM

The top speed article was posted in 2010.

It'll be funny to see who chimes in bitching about hybrids and completely ignores the really scary part- the "built in Mexico" part.

I can't see a negative to hybrid. To Chuck's point the instant torque is awesome. Just doing my part to hold off Rush's Red Barchetta future...I'll miss the roar! ...I'm getting old. Haha.
