WTF if I want a hybrid, full electrical car I would but a Prius, Leaf or Tesla. I could care less about our environment or the BS that we are running out of oil or anything else. I want a gas powered vehicle with power.

F that electric CR@P.

I do care about our environment but I doubt that changing to electrical would change anything.

We knew it was coming, and here it is. Boy, that McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 sure are treehugging pussmobiles.

Electric motors make instant torque. At all rpm. This could make a hybrid sports car very interesting, especially one that was lacking in low end power.

And boom, goes the dynamite.

I understand those high end cars have huge power with electric motors, and I know that electric motors make instant torque believe me I know. But I am not interested in electric cars. Just not my cup of tea, plus the cars you mentioned are not in my affordability range so that motor technology will not be implemented on a Z. Maybe the GTR but not the Z.

They won't do it because you can't afford it? Huh?

Obviously they won't do it the same way as a million dollar car. But that's how tech works. It trickles down.

Even though hybrids do have more torque, the only hybrid so far that I know ( I could be wrong) that has a 6MT as an option is the Honda Cr-Z. If Nissan decides to go hybrid they will need to create a 6MT option as well or is a:shakes head:

oh no, not another Z35 rumor thread

just as long as the nissan team (japan included) is fine with it, i suppose we cant really argue.

I lost my train of thought there as my boss was asking me something. What I meant to say was that those companies are using the technology without the consumer in mind which makes them out of reach for most people.

Nissan I would think that has to think about their consumers and use technology that might not be as great which in turn not be a great car.

Yes technology gets cheaper down the line as parts are produced and become widely available and so on but, its to early and I doubt that a Z with this type of technology would be in the 40k to 45k rage. Unless Nissan plans to push the Z up into the 50k and up which will then compete with a different car market and loose money to other cars.

I love my Z but for 50k and up I rather get a Corvette.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. The linked articles aren't really breaking news, so the entire discussion could be a moot point. But, with the IDX potentially being the "under $30k" sports car, the Z could very easily move upmarket. It would require significant changes, but some trickle-down from the GTR could take care of that.

Plus, this discussion has been had so many times over the years about different technological advances. Fuel injection, ECUs, etc. Sports cars are still here.

Why is there no news yet on the Z35? Is the 2015 model year 370Z confirmed yet?

Z370Z011 03-27-2014 06:48 PM

I think its a pretty good idea if done correctly like the 2015 Porsche 918. Of course the quality might not be Porsche quality, but i definitely think theres potential in hybrids. Idk how to post youtube videos so ill just provide the link lol
