why 370Z?

I am just a few days old in this forum (and so plz be gentle with me). This is a great forum with wonderful information and I have NEVER EVER been stronger to face the car buying process. KUDOS to the admin for having done such a wonderful job.

Despite test driving, I am still torn between 370z and others (g37, BMW 3 series, TT, CLK, Boxter etc,..). Apart from the $ differences, can you say briefly (5 or less words) why you bought 370z? Thx a bunch in advance.

TX_370 09-03-2009 12:33 PM

Some see a letter, others see an icon.

8 words... sorry :(

shumby 09-03-2009 12:36 PM

you pick the Z because you could not afford the G37?

lol I kid i kid

waiting for the nasty replys in 3....2............1..........

lol

whoady4shoady 09-03-2009 12:40 PM

The G looks awful and is not track oriented like the z IMHO.

shumby 09-03-2009 12:43 PM

well i agree with not a track car but not the looks thing. However I will gadly see you on the track anytime for a bit of fun.

shumby 09-03-2009 12:45 PM

to the OP sty away from the 3 series and the Audi. they are crap and you will regret getting them. TT no power and looks like A$$. and the 3 series is a chick car.

TX_370 09-03-2009 12:50 PM

OKay, in all seriousness...

I was determined to buy a new camaro, but when i went to test drive, I couldnt fit in the car comfortably, where the Z feels "likes a glove." Im 6'4 200 Lbs...

Following that, the Z was my second choice and thats what i went with. ZERO REGRETS!

havasuwiley 09-03-2009 01:10 PM

z looks great:happydance:

Asheth 09-03-2009 01:42 PM

Well your list of other vehicles is off.

Suggestion go outside see what car you have in your driveway if you have a car there.

1. Is the vehicle in your driveway practical i.e. backseats, cargo room, utility type.

2. If you have no car in your everyday life can you get by with having only 2 seats and limited cargo space? Do you plan to buy a beater?

Now after asking yourself those 2 questions it should be easier to decide from your list Boxter, Z, TT, and CLK. Not practical cars but drivers cars, built for purpose and fun. For the person that doesnt car about backseats or practicality and still make it through there everyday life with out the car becoming a hassel.

The 3 series and g37 you should be asking yourself do i have wife and kids? Do i want some practicality but a car that can still get up and go and is a pleasant ride, with luxurious goodies?

Now after reading that if you read all of it. Ask yourself in 5 words or less what you want/need?

polarity 09-03-2009 04:11 PM

This will be more than 5 words.

I've owned a Z in one form or another for the past 11 years, I love what these cars were and what they have become. While it's true alot of other cars have fan bases how many have one that spans back 40 years (or close it, dont remember when the first 240z was made). Half the people that stop me to talk about the car or to check it out tell me about this Z or that ZX that they owned in the past and loved. There is a great history you get with a Z car that I really enjoy.

polarity 09-03-2009 04:12 PM

or I could sum it up in these 7 words.

Have you LOOKED at the damn thing????

Roo 09-03-2009 04:16 PM

wife wanted it

chief_Roka 09-24-2009 12:32 PM

I hav mine on order. After 4 yest drives my reaons were.

Handling, power, steering wheel feel, looks and did I mention handling? Lol
My G35 was a great car but I ,
Haven't had this much fun in a car since my 93 rx7. :)

kenchan 09-24-2009 12:38 PM

smaller, shorter, wider, sport package, price.

how's that? :D

awesomez 09-24-2009 12:59 PM

The only hardcore sports car in that list is Z. Rest are either luxury coupes or sporty cars. The question you need to ask yourself is do I want a luxury coupe, sporty car or sports car.

dszombiex 09-24-2009 01:05 PM

Power to weight ratio.

AGREED! I too am 6'4" and 210lbs. The car is EXCELLENT! I can stretch my legs out until my knees are not bent. The G37 is the same car with a different look and less performance. More cargo room is about it.

The euros are just crap these days.....

Lug 09-24-2009 01:47 PM

unbeatable total performance per dollar.

Yep. For me, the Vette and the 370Z are a tie, and every other sports car loses.

cpehaot 09-24-2009 03:27 PM

Midlife Crisis :)~

I did think about the G37 vs Z370 too. Basically the same car except the back seat. U know how sometimes u go out with your girl and there is a (not so pretty) girl friend of your girl... Well she is out of the picture on my 2 seater :) :happydance:

FYI: U be like this :excited: over rough surfaces

I havent bought a Z yet but i am planning to, Im kind of in the same boat as you are but instead of the 3-series place a 1-series there, the Z is definetly the best bang for buck compared to the other cars, its better looking, faster in a straight line, around corners and what not. its practicality isnt really that great when compared to the BMW but with all the others its pretty much right on par. so if your looking for a daily driver that will knock your socks of from point A to point B around the 35 grand range the Z has no equal

My philosophy on this decision was "Go Big, or Go Home". I had a 2008 Honda Accord 3.5L 6MT that was pretty good. But, there's only so much one can do with a front heavy car. It was fun... but not in the 370's league.

Handling, accelleration, looks, "umph" (you know what I mean), and "prestige" (sorry, I can't think of a better word)....

That "prestige" thing can best be explained by having found new respect from domestic and import drivers. They take one look at it and listen once to the growl... and you know... :excited::drool::bowdown::rock:

BrianZ 09-24-2009 08:00 PM

Best bang for the buck, and incredible looking car. I came from an 06 G35 coupe, and then an 08 335 and love the Z. I shopped an M3 coupe, Cayman and G37 against it, and you just can't justify the extra cash.

Make sure you don't need a back seat, even occasionally though.

kdo2milger 09-24-2009 08:10 PM

It Looks Like A Porsche.

kannibul 09-24-2009 08:15 PM

The Z caught my eye

More than the other guys

I saw the performance numbers

Not a mustang, porsche, hummer

I went to a dealer

Try to get a feeler

He didn't want to play

So long I say

I went to another one

And there I stayed

I took for a spin

It was full of win

I came back and haggled

I signed the dotted line

I drove home that night

And haven't regretted a thing.

I thought I'd never

Buy a new car

prices too high

depreciates too fast

But this car is faster

Than anything in its class

kdo2milger 09-24-2009 08:19 PM

is that a poem :icon18:

Something like that - lol...

5 words can't do it alone - 5 words or less per line - sure!

kdo2milger 09-24-2009 08:21 PM

:bowrofl:

good effort

bucketman 09-24-2009 09:29 PM

couldn't find a single seater!!!

Chuckster 09-24-2009 10:13 PM

I've owned three Z's in my life, a 280ZX, a 350Z and a 370Z. With all three, the good feeling you get driving a nice car never went away, even when my 280 was 10 years old. I have an SUV that cost 10K more than my Z and it's nice, but basically it's just another vehicle. Everytime I walk out to the garage to get a Coke out of the fridge, I see the Z and think "that car looks awesome".

NewlyIMPORTed 09-24-2009 11:00 PM

370z is a new face

travisjb 09-25-2009 12:11 AM

underestimated... modable... wins... reliable and refined power... Z

BanningZ 09-25-2009 01:04 AM

Just for the taste of it. Z

1slow370 09-25-2009 02:44 AM

Build quality- Camaro x 10 = Z

Handling- Camaro in rearview

Handling+$1500- Camaro not on radar

WAY faster then my neighbors TT Quatro turbo

Trips 09-25-2009 03:21 AM

For me Just a classic design like my 240 with all the upgrades.

dcrew1x 09-26-2009 06:03 PM

ZeeRay 09-26-2009 06:46 PM

Speed, MPG, quality, goodies and toys, beautiful

I get that, but instead I think, crap, I missed a spot (cleaning it), and man, I just need to break down and get a polisher and strip it, and start putting on Zaino...
