03/04 Cobras are AMAZING platforms to build off of. Period. End of story.

Let's just say I've driven my fair share of Mustangs. :driving:

what made you want to change to the z?

Speaking of DSM's and the on topic Cobra, used to love toying with them in my GSX, of course with a 35 trim Garrett setup, pushing 500+ awhp, its a given. My dumbarse traded it for my former G35, oh how I rue the day.

Friend has one. Complete junk. They may be one of the most unreliable cars. Like most Mustangs!

From what I've read about the '03 Cobras in the past is that they have been the only mustangs with independent rear suspension from the factory while all other 'stangs have had live axles. It may have the best potential for road course use than other mustangs out there from that standpoint, but I haven't really dove into that subject to say for real.

like it's been said stock for stock it might be close (driver mod.), but most of them aren't stock and if they can get it to hook you might as well put it in 6th and save the gas.

Based on that...the 370Z auto would stand a chance if not beat it. As others said, this isn't a drag car...put it on a road course and it will really do some damage.

My neighbor has the Cobra Convertible with the independent rear suspension and it is FAST. But quality sucks. It sqweaks and rattles non-stop.

CK9887 09-02-2009 06:27 PM

As others have said, the Cobra would walk a 370Z pretty hard. The 03-04 Cobra's were underated and are actually pushing 360-370whp from the factory. Capable of mid-high 12's in the 1/4....
Not to mention, just a couple hundred bucks and they are in the 450whp range.

Now if we were talking about any other earlier model Cobra, it would be a different story, but the 03-04 was a monster.

This could explain why these cars have held their value incredibly well.

dude, a auto 370z would beat it but the manual wont? i dont think theres enough of a difference between the auto and manual, if the auto will beat it im sure the manual will as well as long as the driver is good.

It doesn't matter what transmission or who is behind the wheel of the 370Z, it will loose.

The best bone stock Terminator ET I am aware of is 12.4. My friend ran 12.6 in his 2004 10th Anniversary. I think the MPH was 114 mph give or take.

This thread is really a waste of time. Stock-for-Stock the Cobra is going to win. You'd have to be racing a really bad driver to stand a chance. As I have mentioned before, chances are the Cobra you end up running is not stock.

m4a1mustang 09-02-2009 07:11 PM

BTW, OP, what's the deal with all your wacky questions?

bmarcinczyk14 09-02-2009 07:13 PM

just test drove one today actually. had 23,000 miles. it is a fast car, you look at the speedo and you get up to speed pretty damn fast, only prob is that its a pretty mushy feeling car, not very solid like a german or japanese car. 0-60 on these car are around 4.8 give or take, and motor trend got 4.7 on the 370z. i honestly do not think the cobra would rape a 370z, the 370z might hang pretty well. the cobra just felt kinda cheap. i would love to have on though dont get me wrong. maybe a good suspension and some racing seats would completley transform the way it feels?
