Alright, I need some help on the A Pillar

Hey guys, alright I cannot figure this one out and frankly not too sure what I should do. I am trying to remove the A-Pillar interior piece and this is the first time I have seen this. It is a plastic piece that I think holds the pillar in place when the airbag deploys.

The pic below show the driver side A-Pillar looking top down towards the steering wheel.

How the eff do I remove that circled plastic piece? I don't want to cut it as I'd rather not take a pillar to the face. Also it seems as I push the pillar back in place it "winds" back into the plastic housing on the pillar itself. Tried searching but didn't find much. Same with google
