Of course, I'm that guy who would rather have 10 interesting $30k cars than one $300k car. |
I've been thinking this for the entire two years I've owned mine but ever since I bought an FR-S last week, I'm becoming more open to the idea of selling this for a sedan..eventually
until I drove my Z again for the first time this year last night.... now, I'm not too sure what the hell I wanna do:icon17: |
Ive sold every car Ive planned on keeping :) I plan on keeping the Z until I sell it as well :)
|
i will keep my Z for another 5-6yrs.. maybe longer. not sure. if there's a car that comes along that i really want, i will consider selling her. if not, i will continue to keep my Z.
my G is 10yrs old, original owner... same thing. never liked the G37C which i was expecting to replace with. dont care for the Q60 either. |

I am not going to lie though, before buying the BP kit, I really considered trading my car in for a STI. Until I sat in one, I could not fall in love with the interior. It just felt cheap. The car still has the same engine for so many years but have yet to improve on interior material. |

EDIT: U got an FR-S too? I want to see your Z!!! |
I don't have an FRS. Noooope. No way.
Just the Z. I have pics in my album. |

Yeah...remember that from the mid-90's. That still remains my favorite design of any production built car. |

Getting back on topic: I would keep my Z for as long as I can:driving: |
I would like to hope that I will keep my Z for a super-long time. I have a daily driver now, so it's become the toy car I originally wanted it to be.
It's the first car I have ever heavily modded, and I have really enjoyed making it "mine". I really enjoy going to meets now and seeing the older Z's. I want to be "THAT GUY" one day. I'm also 55 years-old, so a long time is a relative term. :icon17: |

Hard to say.
I've harder time thinkng about the cars I sold than even thinking about selling my Z.Years ago(prolly older than the average forum member)I owned a 62' E-Type Jag.Had to sell it because the clutch went out.The entire engine needs to be pulled to replaced the clutch.Did not have the funds.I do have a car I've kept "forever",a 71'Lotus Europa.Mods give it 175hp in a 1,250 lb car.Wild. I'd consider selling my Z if a new and much different Z platform came out. I owned an original 240Z.That kind of "new". |
I don't really intent to sell mine anytime soon ! nobody would even give 10k for mine anyway.. might as well keeping it and very shortly turn it into a dedicated track toy....
Unless I crash it badly, I will still have Megan for the next 10 years ,,, if we are still alive !! hehe |
Pretty sure I'm never selling mine. Then again I drive it 500 miles a year (if even that much) and it gets stored in the back of a warehouse 24/7 365 so eventually I'm sure I'll forget I even own a Z. :ugh2:
|
I just made a pretty strong commitment to mine, thoughts of moving to a different car in 5 years just went out the window. its going to take something majorly cool (like the supra concept) to move me now
|
as soon as I get to 250,000 miles mine is gone! So about 2 more years. I'm already looking at what to replace it with. As for my first car, I still have it, it's been 20 years.

Me, I'm not actively going to try to sell my car, but since I've gutted it and turned it into a pure track car, I'm probably keeping it a while. However, if someone at the track offered me 20k for it, it would be gone in an instant. |
At some point I know I'll sell mine (or if the right offer comes along :)), but after almost five years I don't have any plans to sell it anytime soon! I still smile when I walk up to it!

Unless I total it. It will always be.
Because Racecar. |
So for everyone that says they will NEVER sell it.... If down the road in a few yrs, you can afford something much better, much more hp and performance than your Z will ever be, you would still keep it around? I am talking about 911, supra, gtr, zr1... and what if you can upgrade into an exotic?

Yes I would still keep it, because most likely my next fun car, be he high HP 2 seater (or 4 seater), I will not tinker as much as I did with this car. My Z is my true toy and mess around with car, can always go out and play with it, wrench on it myself. Sometimes once you buy into a certain category, unless you really play to mod it, it is worth letting the tech handle a lot of the work at that point. Mainly because people buying the car after you, if ever, want to see those service records on that Porsche 911 or something. |

The problem with most people I know is that once they upgrade to the other cars listed, they don't DD the car... Sooooo, it's not apples to apples... Then again, I haven't a clue why people buy a 370 and weekend drive it either... If I could afford a new-ish GTR (I'd have to buy under warranty) I'd only sell the 370 if I got a good offer on it, I wouldn't sell it for 15k if it was the last 15k to get a GTR. Not much of a Corvette guy, and I have no idea why you'd BUY a German car My next car will be a DeLorean, or a classic 65-70 fastback Mustang, in which I'll be keeping the 370 |
Any owners who will NEVER sell their Z??

The Z is my first sports, and I lucked out and picked a good one, now I'm hooked and there will be many more sports cars to come. My next sports car will probably be a slightly used GTR, but I plan on keeping my Z for nostalgic reasons. I want to be 50 years old with a stable of high performance cars and point to the Z and say that's what started it :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sell the Z
Probably not. Maybe if I get a C7 though.
|
GTM has $8200 of my money so if someone wants my car they will pay that premium also. By the time GTM ships me something the buyer will have forgotten about it or resold the car. :shakes head:
|
I still have my very first car, a grey market 81 BMW 635 CSI. My dad first bought it when we moved to the US in 91. Got handed down to my older brother when he got his license, then to me when my parents bought him a car. I started trying to restore it but my money from working minimum wage quickly dried up. 10 years later I still have. It does cause problems moving around and finding a place to store it, but I have a lot of memories attached to it. Never going to sell it. The Z, probably the same position. We'll see.

I like a variety. So yes, I will keep my Z when I find something new and flashy that I like. I don't see a point in trading it in. I don't need the money and it holds more sentimental value than anything else.
|
Too many what ifs, after paying on it for so long the idea of no car payment is awesome. Plus, the z is a well rounded sports car. I see no reason to sell it for nothing after paying so much.
