Am I the only one?

I have a base 2010 magnetic black and I thought I would get the windows and rear tinted. I admit tinting improves looks from the outside and since I was considering it, I started looking into it. Problem s that you cannot see the driver very well from the outside...thus you downgrade your own cool looks. I like to see the driver and I don't mind them seeing me.

I also think at night you cannot see very well to the sides and that is a bit more risky as well

I am not so sure I want to get windows tinted.

frost 01-20-2014 07:36 PM

The less people can see me the better. I have no interest in whether people can see me or not, and it tremendously improves the looks of the car.

ShutokuZ 01-20-2014 07:38 PM

The less they can see me, the less they can see the inside of my car. Better for security purposes. Not to mention, keeps this uber white boy from getting burned......

Grindkiezer 01-20-2014 07:40 PM

Car looks better tinted, but if you want people to see you roll down the windows

uhhh... im asian. i dont look good anyways. :ugh: best to photochop the driver out via tint. :ugh2:

mab864 01-20-2014 08:19 PM

Tint it. It's nice to have a little peace and separation from the world outside. Now that I'm tinted, the privacy aspect of tinting is my favorite thing.

XiP 01-20-2014 08:19 PM

eh i don't really care if people see me or not... they're all strangers... who cares?

What if you're picking your nose, driving naked, or something like that?

Not sure you want people to see you do that, nor do we want to see it!

:icon17: So true.

I make fun of my friend and his GTR, because it pulls so many dudes and no chicks (not that he needs them, he's married), but it's still fun to make fun of him.

I totally love the privacy I don't want anyone seeing me. Plus I change clothes a lot in my car going from work, to gym and then to tennis. The dark windows are such a plus. If you want people to see you roll your windows down.

I nap in my car so it helps when people don't see me drueling all over the place

axmea? 01-21-2014 12:09 AM

Got stopped twice already and had to get it fixed (and re did one after the fix it). One was my 12 year old beater. I had no idea it was tinted until a cop stopped me. The tint was so light (front and back) I had no clue (got the car used). He ticketed me anyway. The other was on my G and was stopped after driving 2 miles from where I just got it tinted. I had to re tint after the fix it. No fix-it ticket since.

Since I got hassled for tints, I have no plans to tint my Z for the time being.

Why didn't you just pay the fix it ticket and leave it tinted?

This is a reason I'd never live in California. I don't care how beautiful your state is! Too much government control! :p

I had to show the tints were gone for the officer to sign off on it.

Here are some of the many great reasons why I deal with this expensive State (other that perfect weather and nice terrain on the east and beautiful water in the west).

Is there no way to just go to court and pay the full fine? Never got a tint ticket. *Knock on wood* :tiphat:

Meh. I'd rather live in Phoenix and just take the 4-6 hr drive to Cali to visit.

Sometimes you get a cool cop/whomever does the validation out here in Phoenix. My buddy was stopped and the person that the judge sent to verify it was a car guy and he was like, "This is stupid. You fixed it, right? Right."

Interesting coming from someone with a roadster. My top is never up, therefore, no need to tint my windows.

You're also not in So Cal, Phoenix, or Texas.

Even when parked tint is working to your advantage.

kidkotic2001 01-21-2014 09:16 AM

mmmmmm.... yeah get the windows tinted, the less people can see me the better, and about the night thing that is B.S. My tint is 15% all around and I can see really well at night. NO issues.

I got a driving without a licence fix-it ticket. I showed them my ID and they dropped it. If I hadn't, I would have had to pay the fine. That's it.

Can't you just leave the tints and pay the fine for the violation? What are they going to take your car if you don't get it fixed?? I would just accept the ticket, pay the fine, and leave my car as is.

No it's not BS at all. Many people will agree that visibility is greatly reduced with that sort of tint. Heck it's not BS because I have 15% and I have a hard time seeing at times. Looking into your mirrors to change lanes at night when there are no street lights is pretty difficult. Reversing sucks. Trying to see a curb is a challenge. Don't even get me started about when it rains...

Just because you experience something differently than others does not make it BS... :ugh2:

I guess you can be right but I have no issues with visibility with or without street lights, I have a rear view camera so looking back does not bother me, and well I live in a desert so rain is never an issue.

Lol at people not seeing you.. People still treat the z like a boy racer car. Don't even lie guys Prius try to race you everyday. Tint or no tint doesn't matter
