Has anyone tried the new SynchroRev Match Transmission?

I currently own an Acura but am starting to look at used 350Zs and trading up, but I recently read about the SynchroRev Match tranny on the 370Z and wanted to know if anyone who owns one could give me a quick review. The 350Z will obviously cost me less, but if the rev match is really worth it, I'll go deal w/ those effing sales people at the dealership and check it out. If anyone could let me know if they own one w/ the SyncrhoRev what they think (worth it, not worth it?).

If you're curious as to how it works, check this link out, explains it pretty well.

TECHNICAL: Nissan 370Z SynchroRev Match Transmission - Accel Times

Hmm... could you do it yourself? yes... can you shift as fast as it can do it for you... only if you are the best and are on point all the time... can you shift it right as often as it can - no...

Many people will tell you its lame and useless.. but if you are a track time junkie - you will find it shaves time off your lap - you dont have to worry about multitasking with your right foot and have a guarantee that the car will remain "un-jerky" on downshifts...

there are quite a few posts detailing reviews and technical details on the synchro-rev match. Please use the search function.

Personally, I think it alone is worth the sport package upgrade if you are getting a manual.

It's quite good (and this from someone who's been doing double clutch downshifts for 40+ years)...

there has been issues with it in the 09's, wait for the 10's and maybe the bugs will be worked out.

What issues do you speak of?

spearfish25 08-25-2009 01:12 PM

Yeah. What issues? I haven't heard of a single one. My SRM works perfectly.

2nd. I've driven one and it worked flawlessly....also havnt heard of any issues yet.

shabarivas 08-25-2009 01:22 PM

Yea - what issues? if you are talking about the syncros going out ... thats isolated

CBRich 08-25-2009 01:37 PM

Right. One guy out of about 10,000 has a problem with it randomly revving and it's an issue. Just like the oil temps right?

It's a good system and it works quite well. Try it out.

any new technology is going to have flaws. There are cases of the RPMs revving to 5k in neutral, screw that shyt. My local dealership currently has 2 in for similar issues, doesnt seem isolated to me, just bc 1 or 2 on this board have problems. Its the first year the technology is available, of course there will be issues. And if you havent seen any, give it some time.

Good news is warranty covers it.

shabarivas 08-25-2009 04:08 PM

there is that issue - but its more about you hitting the sensors while shifting from 4 to N you might tap the 3rd gear sensor and it might think you want to DS into 3... to fix it... I just 1/2 clutch and get the gear into N... does not rev when the clutch is 1/2 engaged and 1/2 engaged is all you need to pull the shifter out of gear... try it out

SynchroRev Match is absolutely amazing. It works flawlessly. I think it's worth EVERY penny and I wouldn't drive a 370Z without it!

That's not a problem thats how it works....

Moving the shifter over into the 1st/2nd side causes the system to give a pre-blip in anticipation of you selecting one of those gears.
