Hush, all of you. You know who you are. :)

Justice97 12-13-2013 12:51 PM

1st car I bought was an 83zx.
Z lover from that day on.
Wanted to get a 370 a couple of years ago, but I bought a second home instead so I could get a divorce and give the ex the 1st home.

370Z came 9 months later.
Looking to buy a 90-96 300z convertible next summer so I have a solid Z collection. One can never have too many Zs

ZeeBabar 12-13-2013 01:42 PM

My choice..

I told my wife I am either going to buy a wig/hairpeice for my 60+ bald head or i get the Z and she opted for the Z.

cause the Maserati dealer didn't have my color :icon14:

I bought my 370z this summer after my son got his license and we got him a car. I had been driving a truck and playing sports taxi for many years and finally didn't need more than two seats. I had a 280zx many years ago that I loved and have always been a Z fan so the 370Z was an easy choice!

Elan 12-13-2013 04:37 PM

Came from a Red 2007 350Z... a SR 370Z Nismo was my next step! :p

I wanted a new car. Had to be sporty and powerful and rear wheel drive and not an American POS that would be recalled or fall apart. And had to be within the price range I was willing to pay. Not a lot of choices. The Z did it for me.
However, they missed the mark by not addressing the interior noise issue, a better fuel gauge cluster and an analog clock instead of the cheap digital, and they should have gone full leather instead of the half & half interior.
Just a few improvements and I would have been 100% happy.

because race car.. jk. mainly because it makes the ladies melt :p

Liked it the first time I saw it. Just like a woman, looked from the head to toes, and liked what I saw! I'm willing to put up with her quirks just cause she looks so good!

welterbf123 12-13-2013 09:19 PM

I had a 280ZX 2+2 in the early 80's and I stupidly traded it in for a '87 Mustang GT. Then the kids came and life happened. Now I'm an empty nester and I've never forgiven myself for ever getting rid of my Z, so I've corrected that mistake once and for all!...

Exactly my reason too. The Cayman S was special but after calculating cost of ownership, the Z won hands down. $200 oil changes and known expensive parts just turned me off. Plus I came to the realization that the Z is way sexier than the Cayman.

Fuel cluster although awkward but not bad...reminds me of the RSX. Interior noise is MUCH better better than the 350Z; look into SecondSkin products if i bothers you that much. I've always hated the analog clocks on the Infiniti's...looked tacky and out of place in a car. Alcantara inserts > full leather any day. No cold or burning ***, and holds you better in place during the sharper turns. Also looks higher-end imo.

I had a Honda Civic DX first car... I always fantasized over the 370 before it came out.

I HAD TO GET ONE!!!

b15 12-13-2013 11:27 PM

I got it because its awesome :)

But seriously the 370z was the most well rounded sports car for me (power, handling, amenities, build quality) Close runner up was the c6 corvette. Its definitely faster than the Z but I didn't get it because the power and speed wasn't enough to make up for the cheap interior build. I also didn't like how there's seemingly one on every corner where I live.

saw this photo on Nissan's official website.

it fit the bill of everything, I wanted and how a sports car should look.... sleek, sexy. nimble. the cockpit felt like you were in a sports car.

all that.

like when I thought of the word.. Sports car......im thinking something, low, sleek, smooth, looks fast, handles good. and when I first saw it, I was like " YES! that's it!"

I mean look at it! ..... its a SPORTS CAR

and all for an affordable price of 30k! instead of 100+ K

370Z is one sick car, so much for the money in every way, I've owned multiple Z cars and they were all great, I absolutley love my 370Z ... if I had a much larger budget I would get a Porsche 911 Carrera S, I don't feel there is a car in between the 2 worth buying that meets all the similar needs and criteria

synolimit 12-14-2013 12:42 PM

I was tired of turbo cars and wanted NA w/ good power. Also better mpg than the last 2 I had.

stiggy 12-14-2013 01:03 PM

I would add that the terrible 350Z understeer was greatly reduced.

Third Z for me and had enough to pay cash for it vs buying a used GTR and having a car payment :shakes head:

I really wanted the GTR but I am happy with the Z and no car payment

I went from a 2012 Charger R/T to 2014 370Z. I just wanted to drive something different. I seen a couple 350's around but no 370's #winning

RoadsterST 12-16-2013 10:08 AM

Loved the look since 09. Had a modified Jeep Wrangler that just turned to more of a money pit so I sold it and bought the roadster. The look is not as sexy as the hard top but top down, and its a winner... Sure won't be climbing any mountains or flying thru mud pits but at least I still have the sun shinning in while I drive..

TexasChuck 12-16-2013 04:08 PM

Why?

Honest Injun !! My wife insisted on it. Quote "I want you to have this car!" A very red roadster. What a Girl !
Cheers

My last car was a fully built Mustang strip and street car... with her Vortech YSI race blower dialed down to 22 lbs of boost - she was still a wicked loud screamer and pretty extreme on the street. A/C delete, battery and meth in the trunk, full cage... it was not for the feint of heart. My wife wouldn't even get in it anymore... and my teenage son always wanted to rip on it on the street.

Decided to find a more civilized roadster - and one that my family could also enjoy (and that would hold 2 sets of golf clubs and 2 small overnight bags). Also needed to fit my son (he's 6'4" and didn't have enough headroom in some rides like the C6).

The Z roadster fit the bill and the fam is pleased. I'm holding in there... but miss the dragstrip.

I had an epiphany a few days before my 29th birthday. That epiphany was that I was going to be 30 in just over a year, and if I didn't have a sports car before I turned 30, when I finally owned one, I'd just be that old guy driving a mid-life crisis car. I'd much rather be a "20 something who gets paid too well for his own good" than a "30 something having a mid-life crisis".

AKA massive impulse buy of something I did a ton of research on, but still hadn't ever actually planned on buying.

Amj2020 12-16-2013 08:16 PM

As a child of the 90's I love the old 300Z it was just so much cooler than other cars on the road and it had that awesome texture to the side skirts and lower parts. It looked so stealth.
When I was looking for a new car in 2010 (leased a maxima) I sat in a Z at the dealership for fun and it was love at first sit. The growl of a cold start, the noise, the smell, the interior. I knew then I would have one someday...
Two years later I got my 370 in magnetic black never looked back

mab864 12-16-2013 08:26 PM

What attracted me to the Z? It's a no holds barred sports car with good straight line acceleration and excellent handling. I also like the heritage that it has with over 40 years of production. I pretty much drove every other reasonably priced sporty cars out there before I decided on the Z. Here are the cars I drove in order of favorite to least favorite and why I didn't buy them:

'13 Subaru BRZ: handles really well, nice exhaust note, pathetic straight line performance
'13 Camaro RS V-6: handles well, liked heads-up display, good acceleration, big and heavy
'13 Mini Cooper S: handles good but torque steer, good acceleration, too boxy
'13 Mustang GT: good acceleration, nice exhaust note, liked retro interior, bad body roll
'13 Mazda Miata: handles nice, too slow and too small inside
'09 Base Corvette: too fast, plastic interior, not enough gray hair to pull it off

Of course my favorite ride was the 370Z. For me it's the perfect balance of straight line performance, handling, and it just looks like a sports car should.

stiggy 12-16-2013 10:26 PM

I had a hard time choosing between the 370 and the cayman S. The cayman is like a scalpel but its more expensive and its running costs are ridiculous here . The z looks better and has a bigger potential for mods.

Resale value of the cayman is very bad here. The Z can always be turned into a dedicated track car once u r done with it as a DD. Will cost less than tracking the cayman, though o don't think its made to do that.

So the Z it is
