Z Won't Start: Immobilized?

I'm not able to start the car - the START button won't go passed Lock. I've tried putting the fob in the fobgina and it just beeps and flashes at me. I've tried my spare fob and even replaced the battery in my original fob - all to no avail.

Any ideas?!

Good luck.

Don't sweat it.
Tow it to the dealer to get a replacement steering lock unit, then pull the fuse.
Good luck!

Tow costs $25-175 and warranty replaces it for free.

They will just put a brand new one in, so you may want to pull the fuse.

I still haven't pulled the fuse since its been replaced. I need to do it ASAP.

Thanks for reminding me

Sorry for you. The steering lock is infamous.

We should have a "Pull the Fuse" meet for y'all that have a car w/this issue. :icon17:

Thankfully the '13's don't.

2012 and newer Z's do not have a steering lock mechanism.

FuszNissan 11-13-2013 10:27 AM

If the lock is engaged it's too late to pull the fuse, I would hit the Steering wheel lock with a hammer and see if that disengages the lock. Then pull the fuse from under the hood.
