This is confirmed to work. ^^

Which is downright sad because its supposed to be a security feature. A security feature that is thwarted with some simple thumping of a hammer

^ its only thwarted when the mechanism gets stuck.

hmmm, that's interesting. We don't need to go into how or why you know that :icon17:

I tried all of the known workarounds/DIY fixes to no avail in the parking lot of my subway garage. Thankfully I had CAA and the nearest dealership was <5 KM away so it was a free tow... only 5.5 hrs of my time from experiencing the problem to safely at home.

Spoke to the head tech at the dealership today and they confirmed the existence of the TSB and said if that's all that's wrong, then everything would be covered under warranty and I'd be out of there without spending a dime. I'm waiting for a call back when they've had a chance to look at the Z... will report back my findings.

Until then, I share with you this sad, sad image:

I wonder if this is maybe the clutch switch instead of the steering lock....

Mid cycle 11's don't have that problem. Mines a late August build. Early 11's confirmed by one.

Mine turned out to be the clutch pedal sensor. Even after I had my SLU replaced under recall.

Turned out to be the steering unit lock and it was replaced with a revision "D", which even sounds more GTR-like :). Picked her up last night at no charge to me but the bill for the part and labour was $924 taxes in. Thank goodness for a recall and to everyone in this thread and in the others who helped diagnose.

I will look into pulling the fuse on the weekend :).

Why get it replaced and still pull the fuse?

They will just put a brand new one in, so you may want to pull the fuse.

I still haven't pulled the fuse since its been replaced. I need to do it ASAP.

Thanks for reminding me

Why replace it and still take the fuse out?

Riptide67 11-17-2013 12:33 PM

Bc it could happen again even on a new SLU. There are reports of them failing as well.

Because I don't want to get stranded again
