Considering a Nismo!!
Hello everyone!! im currently still in the market for a 370z and i recently found a 2012 Nismo with 18K miles, only thing is its about 3 hours from where i live but the dealership offered to bring it to town for me. Asking price is $32K (34 OTD) and i was offered $9K for my car, only problem is they want $500 down payment in order for them to bring it from the other dealership :ugh2:
What do you guys think of the price? also i know that this question will receive a lot of hate since it's been asked several times, but i'm also looking at a 2010 sports touring.. cheaper of course, not sure what to go for! any help would be appreciated :tiphat: EDIT: $500 is non-refundable. Kinda worried that the car might have some issues that the dealership isn't telling me about |
is that $500 refundable if you dont like the car?
|
Why not just drive down there to check it out? Its only 3 hours. When I bought my Nismo, I had to drive 550 miles to go get it (El Paso to San Antonio)... 500 bucks is an expensive risk.
|
id take the drive.....I drove 2 and a half hours for mine. then you get to have a long drive home all by yourself.....and the Nismo:driving::happydance:
|
true... 3hrs isn't that long of a drive. take some painter's tape with you so do you can tape up the front of the car and side mirrors for your drive back after purchase.
|
I would see how much I can get a 13/14 nismo for...

Also on Nismo vs Sports touring, if you really like the exclusive look of the Nismo then go for the Nismo. Otherwise, sports touring might be a good choice for you. I am trying not to be biased and I hope I didn't start something here... |
I agree with the other guys by driving to check it out. I would even ask them if you drive to come and check it out instead of them bringing it to you, if they would take another $500 off the price since you are coming to them. Never hurts to ask..
|
i would prefer to go see it myself, but.. full time student in the morning, and working every night of the week (even weekends) :roflpuke2:
i also already dealt with my local dealer and im not sure how the whole trade-in thing would work out if i end up going down there myself.. I think the Nismo would be more suitable for me because it already has all the mods that i wanted to do to the sport touring, except maybe a bit lower |
I think the price is decent. I paid $32k for my 2012 Nismo about 6 months ago with 10k miles on the clock. That was the OTD price since it was a private party sale. I'd say go for it if a Nismo is what you want.

I understand your busy and all ( wasn't that long ago I was in school) but personally I would wait until I could make the drive. Take a day off of work or skip your morning classes or see if a friend who knows cars can take a look. No would would I chance $500. Like you said, what if there is a problem with the car they haven't mentioned because to them it isn't important. Now you are out $500. Doesn't make sense why they would do that, but if that's their position I wouldn't chance it.
The other problem I see, and this is just me, but I wouldn't want someone else driving my brand new sports car 3hrs to transport it. Who knows how they will drive it or how much "fun" they will have in it. If I was paying $500 for transport of the car I would want it trucked and insured against loading/unloading damage and rock chips. An enclosed trailer would be best. Just my 2 cents but I'm rather particular about my cars. |

The thing that comforts me when I think of any possible issues with the car is the fact that the car has full warranty and is fully covered, so even if there is anything wrong it will be fixed! not that I want it to have any problems or anything.. |
70 yr old guy that used to drag race and no lift shifts?
Dealership "assurance"...since when that means anything? So answer this....say you camp out at the meeting location and you discover the driver is a 30 yr old. Will you still buy the car? If you say yes to them driving the car, then you must mentally prepared for this possibility. |
where is the car? maybe one of us members can check it out for you and tell you if it is worth it, I know I would do it for someone else
|
Too late I already paid the $500 :ughdance: turns out it will count towards the original price if I end up buying it, but I sure will be camping by thr dealership waiting for it to arrive :bowrofl:

the nismo finally came in today! gotta say exterior and performance wise the nismo definitely wins, but I was kinda disappointed at how poorly constructed the interior is for the nismo compared to the sports touring :/ . Guess i'll still be going for the nismo for the sexy looks, also there was a couple red flags with the car, first the front skirt/spoiler was unclipped from the corner, and paint fading in another area.. will be posting pictures soon hopefully!
|
i wouldnt want to pay over $30K with those problems. have the dealer fix both issues prior to delivery.

As for the exterior, just tell the dealership if they fix those problems, you will take it. The skirt issue sounds like it's just missing a clip. Faded paint on a 12? Are you sure it wasn't just dirty? |

The stock Nismo exhaust isn't loud at all. After a few months you'll be looking at CBEs....that's hows I was! |

I wanted a Nismo briefly. If I was a young man I'd have gotten it. As I am not, I chose the creature comforts of the Touring and had to have the sports package as well. This package has worked well for me.
Good luck. |

Oh wait... Maybe he is right?!:ugh2: Basically, the washer mod is people adding extra washers to the exhaust pipes to create a exhaust leak making the exhaust sound louder and better. Elanshimoto washer mod is just a fancy name for the washer mod.:inoutroflpuke: |
It could have the actual Nismo CBE on it. Are the pipes/muffler stainless steel/shiny?

im thinking its not the Nismo exhaust since it has two mufflers, which Im pretty sure the nismo only have 1 muffler that is connected to the tips.. kinda disappointed, didn't want a modified nismo
