Wow, that really sucks man, sorry to hear this.
|
Yeah, I'm trying to get over it. It's just a shame that I have to now live in fear and get up every night at 3am to make sure my car's okay.
|
I have not read this thread fully, but did insurance kick in to buy you new wheels? Did you just buy stock wheel & tires again or are you going aftermarket now?
|
I paid my $500 insurance deductible, but the insurance company paid the remaining $7600 balance.
|
wheel locks worth it?

Seriously? That's what our wheels are worth on replacement? EDIT: NM, noticed the damage to the car too - that's probably all inclusive. |

Some thugs rollin' by, saw the rims one day, decided to come back later and pick them up. I'm glad I keep my Z locked away. |
Holly shi*, that just looks wrong. A brand new Z on block, people who do that are the worst. Hope your Z's ok now
|
wow this is ridiculous.
why do ppl do this aniwaise... that's just ******** I'd be piss to the ground... |
In the state of texas your car is considered an "area" of your home and "personal property", there fore i would shoot a mutha flucka in the hips and then chop a finger off if they caught them doing it.

This is so horrible. I'm very sorry at your loss. I hate thieves with a passion!
I updated post 1 with pics. I hope you don't mind. |
I hate to see this kind of thing happening, I live in Suffolk county too, I think i've seen your z around DPA. i'm not saying you did, but all it takes is one night of hanging out on DPA for a Wyandanch/bayshore/Islip scumbag to follow you home and plan his attack.
My civic hatchback got stolen last year, I had a removeable steering wheel, alarm, fuel cutoff switch, and always took the ECU fuse out before going to bed. This particular night i got home at 2am, landlord woke me up at 7am to find my car missing. Thieves will get their justice. |

Thanks to you and everyone else for your support. |

Yeah, I drive on Jericho every day, so I'm sure you've probably seen me around. I literally cried when they towed my car off the driveway only a month after having it. I sincerely hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. :shakes head: |
Sorry to hear about what happened. There is bound to be some difficulty getting over the incident so my recommendation is to dive into fun stuff you like to do and enjoy yourself. Talk to your neighbors and really get more eyes watching for problems. In a nice area everyone around your place is probably feeling some concern as well.
Recommendations: Lojack has some nice options that should help. You can even have your phone called if there is a problem. Motion sensing lights aimed in the cars vicinity are probably the best at discouraging thieves. The lights and a camera to catch whoever. Good luck! |

Really sorry to hear of your loss. Your car will be good as new I'm sure! Just have peace within you knowing that people who do such things will get theirs.
Example 1: My customer told me he use to rob jewelry stores. Now he barely has enough to put food on the table and is handicapped and confined to a wheelchair. Example 2: A married lady who cheated with another married man and helped kill the man's marriage. She went traveling in another country and was involved in a motorcycle accident that left her handicapped. Her husband left her for another woman, and now she barely has enough money to live on. Let these examples give you peace and comfort, and serve as a warning to others who do bad things. "As you sow, so shall you reap". Never worry about giving them a piece of you, karma will do that for you. |

Those Fother Muckers, Why dont you check craigslist or your local newspaper to see if those guys are stupid enough to try and sale them. Then just meet up and do some damage. Even if they didnt steal them from your car, It would still feel pretty good to get it out.:ughdance:

This incident is part of a reason why we didn't go for the sport package.
A few weeks ago, I was woken up by a loud crash. It sounded like 10 people had thrown metal trash cans in the air and they all hit, simultaneously. What happened was someone stole a taxicab (keys in it, engine running) at a convenience store and made it as far as my block. Then he drove up over the curb across the street, across several lawns, and when he got to my neighbor's little Hyundai parked in the driveway, he pushed it out the way with the taxi. He left the taxi with the engine running a couple hundred feet down the street ... impaled in the back a 5-series BMW. My Z was safely in my driveway. The 98 Yukon I was trading under the clunker program was out on the street -- but he didn't hit that. (If he had, I would have laughed.) But that poor little Hyundai, sitting peacefully in my neighbor's driveway, got all twisted up. I expect something, don't know what, to happen in the life of my Z. I'd rather not have to replace those 19" sport rims or rubber ... they're cheap on an OEM buy, but very price if you have to replace pairs. The 18" "base" rims are good enough for me, and I've got a better chance of buying someone's pulls at a good price. |

You didn't get the sport package in fear of someone stealing your oem rims?:icon14: |

The sport package is an extra $3K. But the full replacement cost for this theft -- 4 sport rims, 4 sport tires -- was $8K. I'd not want to spend $8K putting the same shoes back on the car. But if comprehensive insurance was involved, I'd have to. See what I'm getting at? The sport option locks you in to a number of pretty expensive replacements. The 3K extra you pay up front is only the opening ante... |
most ppl take the cash and just buy aftermarket ones anyways... sometimes even cheaper than new OEM replacements
|
Ha! They used milk crates when they stole the wheels off my 2002 Spec-V four years ago:

Hey just curious, how do they get the car onto a tow truck with all the wheels missing? Do they just drag it up, because that would really mess up the bottom of your car...
or do they put some kind of temporary wheels on first? Thanks in advance. |
Im sorry to hear about ur wheels got stolen. I got wheel locks and I suggest u to get one too because the rims the rays wheels are really expensive to get !!!

Personally i got the sport package because it's the best $3k i've ever spent, and seeing as a pay $2,400 a year to insure the car, American Family can buy me new wheels when they get stolen. Way more protection then wheel locks.

Breaking news update!!!
So, as you all know, three months ago between the hours of 12am and 6am my sport wheels/tires were stolen right off of my car in the driveway (if you don't know this story, backtrack through my thread and look at my second picture album). Since then, I've added three different sets of wheel locks (two of which are spinning wheel locks), an alarm and infrared sensors around the perimeter of my house.
WELL, last night at 2am the sensors went off. I jumped to the window to see a man wearing all black and a black hoodie covering his head standing next to my car. Frantically, I looked around for my keys (which happened to be in the other room) and set the alarm off. By that time, the guy had left my driveway and walked around the block. Through the commotion, my next door neighbor came out and said he saw the guy get into a old car and they drove off. I called the police, who showed up only minutes later. I filled out a report and they continued to search the area for about an hour after the incident. My thoughts on the thieves' MO (assuming it's the same guys): 1. My wheels were stolen on an early Tuesday morning (12am-6am) three months ago. Last night (Tuesday morning), the thief was standing in my driveway at ~2am. 2. They scout out my house, looking for a pattern of when I am home. 3. They choose an early time when they know everyone in the house is in bed and park their car around the block. 4. One guy gets out and walks to my house to make sure everything is clear and see if I've added an alarm/wheel locks/other security measures. 5. If okay, he walks back to the car and the other guys get out to do their thing. Five minutes later, they're gone with the goods and I'm left with an upcoming 2 weeks worth of headache. So, if you don't have access to a garage, make sure you've got other means of protection. These cars are still so new that thieves will take any advantage they can. BE ON ALERT! |
