Wow, I think members have gotten 80k, I have 36k on mine, mainly ąsshole driving. At 14k the car had 8mm, then I bought it, and after my 22k, they still have 5mm

SO... Had them take off the front left wheel where the sound was coming from, I looked at it with them, couldn't find anything stuck or anything like that. Looked at the other 3 brakes, couldn't see or hear anything rattling. Just got home, (don't know why I didn't think to check this at the dealership) checked the outside of the brake pad and saw a very small groove where the pebble must have been stuck. It's not a deep groove at all, can barely feel it with my finger, but definitely something il keep an eye on. It's maybe a millimeter wide at the most going all the way around the pad, and like I said can barely feel it with my finger so I'm not too worried. In any event I feel much better now.

Just curious: If there is no valid warranty claim made, will they charge you for the tow and their time? Incidentally, I'm insured with Nationwide and they provide tow coverage, at no charge, as part of the expense of my premium. If your insurance covers the tow, maybe you can get that out of the dealership direct bill to you (assuming they're not covering as a warranty matter).

I have a AAA gold card so the tow was free. I don't know if a pebble would be covered under warranty anyways.

Good for you. Wonder how much they'll charge you for their time and trouble. Glad all seems to be resolved.

All they charged me for was the oil change I needed anyways. Nothing extra for the test drives, taking the wheel off or any of that.

Smart business by that dealership. Just earned your loyalty and trust. Now I know where you'll by that GT-R!

My friend this literally JUST happened to me the other day. Turned into my driveway and the worst metal screeching started from the front left wheel. Did some inspection and full left and right turns and it somehow stopped. I think it was a rock as well. Took it on a hard test drive, doing some slalom and heavy braking maneuvers and all seems well. No problem since. My heart almost stopped that day! Glad your car is ok!

I bought an altima coupe from them in the past and I've been going there for a while for maintenance so I have a good relationship with them. Not all dealerships are horrible. Kinda funny- they have a GT-R track edition in the show room and I was talking with a salesman about it and sports cars in general...I left, then came back to pick up my Z and he said hey someone called about the GT-R when you were gone, you must be good luck! I thought that was pretty funny:rofl2:

Yea I found a couple youtube videos of rocks being caught in breaks and it's that exact noise I heard. It was DAMN loud. I pulled over immediately once I realized it was my car so the groove it made in the pad wasn't bad at all. I'm sure it would have been much deeper had I kept driving

Yeah luckily it started when I was about to turn in my driveway. No damage here. Worst sound ever. I felt sick to my stomach when I heard it. Felt better when I turned the car off and it discovered the sound only came from one wheel only when it rolled. Glad you got it sorted out. :tiphat:

For a tow story, the OP has, one of the best endings ever.

Justice97 11-03-2013 11:30 AM

Yeah.

Hear horrible sound from rear end?
Pull over have car towed for oil change.

Problem gone.

I say win.!!!!!
