When i first got the car i would just leave it in auto and durin the day the led would come on and after around 6 or 7 or however the car knows it turned it over the the headlights. Now it wont, any ideas?

Yea pretty sure something is wrong. My LEDS go off in auto when its darkening and vice versa.

Having the same issue. Hate to bump an old thread.
'14 z with navi in auto headlight mode.
When pulling out of my garage the HIDS are still on from when i pulled in. They are supposed to (from my understanding) switch to the LED strip on the front bumper as soon as the car hits sunlight. Well i have driven to work (30min) without the HIDS turning off automatically like they should. I have to turn the lights to the off position then back to auto and it behaves properly. Any ideas?

Logically, light sensor, relay, switch?

Still under warranty? Bring her in for a checkup.

Bad photo sensor?
That's the only thing I can think of.

Know where its located by any chance?

:icon17: not hating, just one less thing to worry about.
like tpms, i never liked that feature.

I just wish they were a little brighter solo and dimmed with the headlights on, instead of turning off. The nike "swoosh" DRL's on my wife's 14 Lexus IS are bright as a mofo solo, and dim when the headlights are on. Together, they look good at night lit.

There's a simple wiring mod in the DIY section to make the DRLs stay on all the time, if you want. You can also adjust the sensitivity of the sensor so the headlights will turn on sooner or later, depending on the light level.

He's got a point, at approx 800 dollars each I am sure they are timed to burn out when warranty runs out.

I wish I had a switch to turn the MOFOS off.

cooltoy 09-08-2014 11:52 PM

Cover the sensor and that will turn them off.

Good idea cool... Limey, this might go well with your seat covers, to you know, tie the whole interior together.
