2013 Z LED Strip issue on "auto mode"
So it seems that my led strips dont turn on with my light action in the auto position. If i turn it into the off position the led strips come on and my headlights go off. When i first got the car i would just leave it in auto and durin the day the led would come on and after around 6 or 7 or however the car knows it turned it over the the headlights. Now it wont, any ideas?

....you mean the LEDs go off when the headlights go on?
Its supposed to be like that, the LEDs are daytime running light, obviously when the headlights go on, its not "day time" any more. |
No. When you turn your lights on you have a couple choices, The off point, Auto, Highbeam, and ect. When i put it on "off" the headlights turn off and the LED turns on but at night time obviously the headlights dont turn on b/c its on the off position. During the daytime If i have my light position on auto during the day the led should come on right? but nope i get my headlights. Maybe a sensor issue or maybe electrical issue? Any CLue?

I have the lights on Auto all the time, the only time the LED turns off and the headlights turn on during the day is when I roll in the garage (...which can be a little annoying) |
Any other 2013 model z heads experiencing this?

you do know there's a light sensor that clicks the lights over right? the DRL's and headlights will not be on at the same time unless you rewire them to do so, or put the DRLs on a toggle
|
I know, I dont want them on at the same time. Im saying on auto mode it doesnt click over....
|
Put it on Drive and then put it on park.
Cuz if you just turn on your car and walk outside to check them out, i think they'll be turned off. |
mm i drive 6m so i dont have drive or park haha.
|
I dont think they turn on if parking brake is up.
|
Nope, in auto during the day (not in tunnels) my DRLs are one and that's it. When it's dark or I'm in a tunnel for an extended period of time.

If you put the parking brake down, they will come on and stay on until you turn the headlights on or car off (even if you put the parking brake back up). |
Ahh, don't put it auto mode ;)

Google.
Okay I think we are done. Good luck dude. Bye. :roflpuke2: |

Having the same issue. Hate to bump an old thread.
'14 z with navi in auto headlight mode. When pulling out of my garage the HIDS are still on from when i pulled in. They are supposed to (from my understanding) switch to the LED strip on the front bumper as soon as the car hits sunlight. Well i have driven to work (30min) without the HIDS turning off automatically like they should. I have to turn the lights to the off position then back to auto and it behaves properly. Any ideas? |

Bad photo sensor?
That's the only thing I can think of. |

I love my DRLs. |

like tpms, i never liked that feature. |
I just wish they were a little brighter solo and dimmed with the headlights on, instead of turning off. The nike "swoosh" DRL's on my wife's 14 Lexus IS are bright as a mofo solo, and dim when the headlights are on. Together, they look good at night lit.
|
There's a simple wiring mod in the DIY section to make the DRLs stay on all the time, if you want. You can also adjust the sensitivity of the sensor so the headlights will turn on sooner or later, depending on the light level.

He's got a point, at approx 800 dollars each I am sure they are timed to burn out when warranty runs out. I wish I had a switch to turn the MOFOS off. |
Cover the sensor and that will turn them off.

If it was not for the wife, I would also have covers on my tables.:roflpuke2: |
Sp i turned my flashlight on on my phone, put it over the sensor, and bam after about 5 seconds the lights went off and DRLS went on. So i guess its just too dim in the mornings?
Or maybe the sun needs to be up in the sky and not at a 45 degree angle. Oh well i know its not broken now! |
If you have the touring option, you can adjust the sensitivity in the setting.
|
Yea ive played with it, just didnt seem to make much of a difference
